Been thinking of doing this in 15mm using some of the awesome Demonworld Warlords of Thrain miniatures as the base troops and heroes:
http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/index.php/demonworld/the-miniatures
And then using a Celtos miniature as my god.
Anybody else thought about doing it in 15mm? Will it require any mods?
-
Will need to look when I get home but I don't think you'll need to change anything.
-
Seems like a good idea to me.
-
Hi Scott
You could reduce the size of the measuring sticks (and therefore the table) but it is only played on a 4 by 4 anyway. I think I would work fine in 15mm as is.

Well, the original Song of Blades and Heroes game had different sized measuring sticks for 15mm and 28mm:
15mm models
Short – 50mm
Medium – 80mm
Long – 120mm
25/28mm models
Short – 75mm
Medium – 120mm
Long – 180mm
As the latter option is the same as in OGAM, I'd be inclined to use the former for down-scaling to 15mm.
-
We shall see. At this point I have ordered the following Demonworld packs for my Celtic force:
Qty. Products Total
1 ea. Hunters (10) $7.00
1 ea. Skirmishers (10) $6.50
1 ea. Archers (10) $6.50
1 ea. Thain Personalities (6) $6.50
And for my god model, I got this guy from Celtos to use as Rudianos, Celtic god of War:
http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/Celtos/The%20Gaels/CLT-306.html
Once I have the stuff I can sort out to arrange and base it.
-
oh man. That is a great idea.
-
The other option is to keep the bases the same size and say base a couple of miniatures up per base. You could actually get a really nice overall look that way.
I wouldn't bother adjusting the ranges. Some of those differences are literally an inch difference, doesn't seem like a lot to warrant it in my mind.
-
Assuming OGAM works mostly like SoBaH you end up using more then one stick after each other on many occasions and that difference starts to rack up.
Using the normal range bands shouldn't be a problem but personally I found the shorter ones to "feel" better for 15mm games in this engine.
-
At my club in australia we are playing 15mm infantry/mortals because the picture of Sobek fighting with little greek hoplites below him was too inspiring not too. The legens and evidently the gods are regular size and allow 28mm figures to stand out. We didnt change the mechanics at all, instead we just put 2-3 15mm infantry on a regular base and play as we would the normal game and it looks/works amazing.

That really appeals to me... If you've got any photos of armies based this way, I'd love to see them.

I think I may do this as well. My initial plan is to base everything on 25mm plastic slots (2 15mm figs per base for mortals), and use Litko irregular and rectangular move stands for the open order and close order units, respectively.
15mm Legends and scale neutral beasts will be mounted singly on 25mm slots. I may add a retainer or some other feature to these bases for a bit of "color".
My god model will be mounted on a 30mm - 35mm round of some sort--either a plastic Warmachine style base, or some other appropriately sized round.
We'll see. Just wish my stuff would arrive soon as I am actually pretty excited about the project. This may actually overcome the hobby ennui that I have suffered from the past 3 months.
-
Finished my god model, Rudianos, this weekend. Still waiting for my 15mm mortals and Legends to arrives from Ral Partha Europe. They have been shipped!
As I browsed Litko's web site, I became torn over my basing plans. I think I may reverse myself and base each model individually on 20mm rounds. Litko makes awesome move stands cut to accommodate their 20mm plywood rounds, so I just may order enough bases and move stands from them to cover two forces.
I like the look of their irregular stands for OO units. And of course, you can buy rectangles from them in any dimensions for your CO units.
See the Horde trays here:
http://www.litko.net/products/Horde-Tray-6%252d20mm-circles-%281%29.html#.UoDjkqwwslQ
And the CO trays would be these:
http://www.litko.net/products/Skirmish-Trays-for-20mm-Round-Bases-%28All-Patterns%29.html#.UoDj56wwslQ
Then I can use my models to play Of Gods and Mortals, and use them to skirmish in other games, or even as RPG minis in games where I might choose to use 15mm instead of 28mm.
I will try to get a pic of my god model uploaded later today, or more likely, tomorrow.
We shall see.

Ok, finally got around to taking some pics, and they're nothing to write home about, but this should give folks an idea what I am on about here:

Still awaiting the arrival of my bases (from Litko) and my Mortal troops and Legends (from Ral Partha Europe).
Maybe today or tomorrow? We shall see!

Great start
-
Top idea - looking forward to seeing him towering over some 15mms
-
Outstanding. Looking forward to seeing the finished army. My workmate and I put in our orders today – I've got a pile of 15mm goodness coming from Splintered Light and Peter Pig.
-
Thanks! The real fun will come with seeing everything painted and based together. And I am excited about the litko movement stands I'll be using. So should be a visually appealing little force.

If you are going to do a 15mm Norse warband you cant avoid the Copplestone barbarians:-
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=60114.0
Lots of figs that fit as legends.
-
I'm doing this. Will get pictures of my Norse force when I get out of bed. :D

I am not going to follow this thread any longer... I have too many things going on in 15mm as it is but love what you guys are doing :)
The round multi figure bases are neat - never seen them with figures on before and I like the look of them.
-
I'm using the Xyston greeks with some centaurs from Eureka, with 28mm Bronze Age figures from Fenris as gods.
I am still trying to find a GW Orion figure (the latest one) to use as Cernunnos for the Xyston gallic figures (the gaesati characters are too good not to use in a skirmish game), the Warmodelling celtic chariots are just too nice to not have to go with them, so have the guy posing on the shaft and Boudicca to use as heroes .....
It started as I could do a force for less than a tenner idea and has morphed into a monster :) what with the movement trays (I went for an oval design which has roughly the same width as the diameter of a cd), fish tank temples and a large tree carved into a green man for the celts .........
-
So the Greeks are well under way, figures by Xyston, Eureka and Bronze Age:
Athena, Chiron and two generic heroes, with 16 Hoplites, 4 Centaurs with bows and 8 Greek Archers (slightly over 900points but painting a couple of extra characters and another god figure)

Took about 4 evenings to do a quick job on these - fiddliest bit was the shield transfers from LBMS, but worth it ...

Cracking idea, would really look like big armies then :D

I've done a bit more work on this project now; some extra Gods and legends for the Greeks, and a warband for the Celts, and thought I'd take some pics outside in the sun on Sunday :)
Some shots of the Greeks with the added God and Legend (only one god per band so I could make 2 complete bands with this lot at a push, or a choice :))

And MM do the old chariot miniatures fantasy Egyptian range.
