I got the game some time ago, but it hasn't been until now that I've decided to paint the minis. This is my first contact with Z's games and ambientation, and I've found Zombicide to be the most suitable option for a newcomer :).
This is what I managed to do with the survivors (these pics are awful, they make the colours -and specially the skin tones- look totally different to what they really look like in the flesh :().

But survivors are nothing but an opener for the scope of my intentions ;). The Z's are great sculpts, but there are a lot of repeated poses, so it was my aim to customize them a little bit. As the game is fully designed in a cartoonish way, with lots of tributes/references to movies and stereotypes, I just went on the same way. So let's go for the first round. This is the original model:

And this is what I did to the rest with some putty:

I'm still working on all the Z's (about 60-70?), but I really intend to not have two identical minis on my set. Here you have a few more pics and thoughts on the matter:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt2-fatties.html
I'll be posting more Z's in the ongoing days :), hope you like them.
-
AWESOME fatty conversions!
-
HAHAHA....
Those zombies are awesome. The last two in particular.
-
Very nice conversions. If you have them I would love to se some work in progress of such conversions.
-
I have the fatties primed and am about to start them. I think it's probably as well you didn't post these earlier, as I'd probably have been tempted to try something similar - although it wouldn't have turned out nearly as well :(
What sort of plans do you have for the other figures. Not fishing for ideas of course :D, just curious ;D
-
Cool stuff, but those fatties are übercool !
:-* :-* :-*
-
Very nice miniatures, is the second to last fatty wearing some kind of highlander toga? :)
-
Those are awesome! Great job!
-
Haha, glad that you like them! :)
I'm afraid that, as I say in the blog, I only keep a couple of pics of the WIP :(

The Scottish guy looked like a fun idea, but sculpting the whole raggedy tartan was a pain in the ***, hehe. I'm not satisfied with the pattern of the tartan, but I'm not repainting it for the moment, he will have to wander and stumble with that for a while ;D. Elvis was totally fun to sculpt and the donut-eater cop was a challenge I truly enjoyed (if you look close you might see the NYPD badges).
After having finished those I came up with some more stupid ideas, like a Santa (a guy acting like Santa you can see in front of Macy's or so...) or a merchant seaman; you know, stuff like that. But I didn't have more fatties!
I'll be posting what I'm doing to these Z's. The project is in a relatively advanced stage, but I still have tons of zombies to do. I'm exploiting cliches, just as the game itself does, it seemed proper to me.
Some of them are better, some of them are worse, but you can expect a few surprises ;).
-
They're excellent. :o
Any problems with the material or preparation tips for the painting and conversion?
-
The NYPD uniform is funny, two patches on the shirt, only the right side on the jacket...
-
The tuxedo-wearing lounge singer is my favorite - beautiful work!
-
Any problems with the material or preparation tips for the painting and conversion?
The only problem I have experienced has been my mistake, as I have not varnished the minis and some of them are flaking off a little when put back on their plastic trays. I have to solve that!
-
Also make sure you wash these extra good before painting....
-
Those are really spectacular! :)
-
The following minis will be the least inspired of all the bunch, I'm afraid :(. The zombie Muse was not around when I begun to work on them :-I.
The Abomination needed no conversion, as it's a single model. Here you can see what I told you the other day about paint flaking.
Well, this is it, the poor accidental tourist with his camera and the palm trees shirt ;D.
Runners have been difficult for me; as I'm saying, I can't find inspiration for something 'different enough'. I just added some hair or different colours, but I can't say I'm satisfied with them. As with the Fatties, the first mini is the original unmodified and all the rest have additional work:
The second round:
I thought of having one or two female runners, but I had to do extensive work on hips, breasts, shoulders, face... It wasn't worth of, so I left them all being male runners.
Your c/c will be most welcome both here or at the blog:
http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt3-abomination-runners.html
I promise something slightly better for the next round ;)
-
The new batch of zombies has female runners. I dont know if you have to buy Prison Outbreak or if they are also in one of the Walk of the dead "booster" zombie packs.
Edit: as I completely forgot. It looks very good! My experience is that once you start putting zombies on the table you do not notice that the poses are the same. As long as the clothes is painted in different colours.
-
Hehe, I'm nevertheless having huge fun converting these, now I cannot stop! ;D
I'm bringing you all the male walkers today. Some of them more inspired than others, I'm afraid. Let's begin with the worse and let's see if we can improve:
Ordinary zombie:
Changing some hair and so, you get these:
As I liked the Fattie cop, I just did another:
And a touch of black humour ::)
The second and third rounds look a little bit better, or at least so I hope. The original mini:
And here it begins the multicultural non-discrimination show (Everyone gets his right to become a zombie, no matter who you are):
And another round. The original untouched mini:
And my mumblings and nonsenses. This one was pretty obvious, it was a matter of time I did this:
Some more Z's:
Some more cliches (as I told you at the beginning, the game is full of them, I thought it was the proper thing to do):
And another stupidly fun nonsense. Just sing with me: I want to break freeeeee :D
(http://i39.tinypic.com/8vt3pw.jpg)
As always, you are more than welcome in the blog, here you have both entries:
http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt-4-first-round-of-walkers.html
http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt-5-more-walkers.html
I'm currently working on the female walkers, hope to post them anytime soon :).
-
Fantastic work. I have only painted 1 of my 120 or so Zombicide zombies. Must get cracking. This is great inspiration.
-
This is some exciting progress! I really like it.
-
Holy hell, these are all too fabulous.
I may have to steal the fat Elvis idea.
-
Thank you very much! :)
Here you have the first round of female walkers. Having so many skirts is an issue if you want to make different minis, but I did what I could. Well, you know the drill, here you have the original model:
And a scale comparison pic with a... smaller version ::)
New ideas:
And a totally unoriginal idea, but it works for me ;)
http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt6-some-female-walkers.html
Only 8 female zombies more and I can count this game as finished! :)
-
Here they are, as promised :). Project finished! The first one looks like this:
With little slight additions and modifications I got these:
Increasing the amount of green stuff I went on these two:
As I had a Godfather Fattie, he was in need of the bride :D:
And I told you that, as I had a football player, I needed a cheerleader:
I tried something different for the last mini. Yup, I got a zombie astronaut :D:
So that's the game, I just have to play it with all the converted minis and see if it has been worth of ::)
http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2013/11/zombicide-pt-7-last-walkers.html
-
Amazing skill and dedication! These don't look like conversions, people not in the know could easily think you somehow got your hands on some exclusive alternate sculpts.
-
"Hey- I don't remember these on the kickstarter. Guillotine Games owes me!" *NERD RAGE!!!*
I love the astronaut, by the way.
-
Nice Michael Jackson "Thriller" zombie!

Nice Michael Jackson "Thriller" zombie!

Hehe, thank you all! :)

Just a small update. Last weekend I got a surprise Christmas gift. Let me introduce you La Rana Bucanera (http://laranabucanera.blogspot.com.es/) (that is Spanish for 'Buccaneer frog' ;D), a most interesting blog run by Eliezer Mayor, an incredibly talented artist from the Canary Islands. He sculpted and painted this mini and sent it to me!
You can see the whole process here:
Part I (http://laranabucanera.blogspot.com.es/2012/11/esculpiendo-28mm-parte-i.html)
Part II (http://laranabucanera.blogspot.com.es/2012/11/esculpiendo-28mm-parte-ii.html)
Part III (http://laranabucanera.blogspot.com.es/2013/12/esculpiendo-28mm-pintando-la-copia.html)
I cannot recommend it enough; seriously, he is such a talented artist -not that I'm telling it as he has bribed me with a mini lol. His work speaks out for itself, just go check. You will not be dissapointed.
Of course I had to try the mini on a game! So this very weekend we had a Zombicide session:
Seriously, go check his blog, spend a few minutes over his works. Though it is in Spanish, you can contact the author in English :).

Can't believe it's been that long since I posted here for the last time! Shame on me!
But I've not been idle all this time, I simply got forum lazy :'(. Let's put an end to that!
I painted the dogz; nice ones, you don't get to see this kind of minis often.
I wasn't looking for any kind of complicated work, so I kept this quick and easy. I believe they work good enough. At least for me! ;D
But these are not the only Zs I've been busy with. I've been expanding my range of zombies with not-Zombicide minis.
I purchased this from Hasslefree:

(I specially love this one :D)

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2014/07/they-are-not-dead-they-are-infected.html
And I believe you have already seen Clearco's works before in this very forum. I managed to paint his ladies. Here you have size comparison shots in case you wonder about the scale. Hasslefree and Empress:
They look like this:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.dk/2014/07/fat-bottomed-zeds.html
Not convinced with my brushwork here, I should totally repaint them, but that will be in the future. I still have tons of work to do!
-
Super work Suber! :-*
Love the zombies, all of them!
Must be a real treat to play Zombicide with all of those nice minis 8)
-
Love the conversions and the mix of Non-Zombicide Zeds.
Excellent stuff.

Love your job mate!!! Keep them coming! I just started my copy of the game and must say that your models will inspire me all the way, till I finish it. :D
-
This could be one of those 'It's alive!' projects, and it would be proper, it's zombies we are talking about! :D
Just painted the latest release by Clearco Miniatures (http://clearcominiatures.blogspot.com.es/), a nice batch, the heads options are really nice, they certainly add some variety :)

Here you have them on the blog:

I've realized I still have some Zombicide minis in their box awaiting for me. Shame on me!
