Title: Still no solo ruleset giant robot game ?
Post by: sundayhero on November 08, 2013, 12:25:38 AM
Hi,

Reading good reviews on alpha strike, mech attack, it makes me jaleous to not be able to use all my battletech stuff, because of the lack of player.

I already asked this question a few months (years?) ago...Is there any solo alternative these days, for giant robots serious solo gaming ?

The complexity of BatteTech means that it's very hard to write decent AI rules, MegaMek has AI opponents, and there is a solo ruleset over at BGG (which is somehow connected to MM from what I understand).

thanks for the answer,

I'm not specificaly searching for battletech only games, but any mechs games with giant robot fight flavour would be better than nothing.

I invested in battletech (a lot of time, work, and for my small gaming budget, money), but I'm now pretty sure I will never play it. Until I move in another aera with a big city around....  :(

You could always try and make your own. Have a look at the Gears of War boardgame for a very elegant AI solution. Just determine which kind of actions a unit has available and then choose the one appropriate to the situation, or an alternative if it isn't applicable. A system like this would work really well with a deck or random cards.

Unfortunatly, I'm not very good at making rules...I tried for battletech, and it quickly became a mess  lol

I'm a bit jaleous of people playing Alpha Strike or this game Mech Attack I was not aware of.
