Title: 40k skirmish - Iron Fists vs. Underhive Scum
Post by: TF Riley on November 15, 2013, 07:21:17 PM
Last night we had ourselves a game of 40k skirmish. Niels brought his Iron Fist space marines, I compiled a list of underhive scum, number 4 vs 13. We used the community made rules set, In the Emperor's Name. The game was fast played, rules never bogged us down and it was a bloody slaughter, precisely as 40k should be!

Looks like a fun game with some lovely terrain. Your underhive scum gang looks amazing. Any chance of some individual mini shot's of them?  :D

Thank you sir! :)

Yes, I thought the same right after the post. The weather is a bit grey right now, but I'll see if I can fix some decent shots...

More scum

The special ones - mutant, sniper, cyborg, see

My original sniper, he got +1 BS in a Necromunda campaign so I have him an owl to represent his improved shooting ability

In the underhive, flamers and shotguns see you well out of most arguments

I've used them as Scavvies mainly and have 2 scalies lying about somewhere, but they can pass as your everyday generic underhive scum.

Next gang I'll complete is my Brats - see here for pics http://thewickedworkshop.blogspot.dk/search/label/Brats

Thanks! The terrain belong to our local club, Rogue Trader https://www.facebook.com/Roguetraderkbh

The propietor Sonny made the terrain, actually it's been done to fit 6-15mm but it works equally well at 28mm.

Some amazing looking mini's there. Really good re-purposing of em4 scavengers. I love the guy in the straw hat with the shotgun. One of my favourite miniatures ever. He was a Rogue Trader for me in an Inquisimunda campaign last year and all his crew were other em4 scavengers. I never did weapon swaps on mine though. I just count SMG's and Assault Rifles as Autoguns, Pistols as Stub Guns etc.  :D

Yeah the EM4-minis are really nice. I picked mine up ages ago, wonder how long they've been on the market - still some of the best scavenger minis out there.

I swapped the pistol 'cause the original was so small and the straw hat fella got the end piece of an old goblin trumphet to make his shotgun a blunderbuss.

Some way down the line I might pick up the rest of the EM4 line, but as any old wargamer I have way too much lead piled up in the drawers to justify new purchases (I do it though, lastly a couple of warbands from the Arcworlde KS).

Very cool. It's what it's all about.

I DL'd ITEN, haven't played it. I take it it's working well for you and your group?

Nice work I never noticed that blunderbuss on the straw hat guy.  :D

I'm not a rules guy and this was my first time trying out ITEN. To be honest, I wasn't blown away but as mentioned, the game was fast played, you only have to keep track of 2 stats, grit and armour save, the rest are modifiers. But the weapons could use a once over, autoguns, shotguns and flamers felt somewhat similar and some of the equipment was hard to find in the rules.

Pros: it played fast and was easy to learn. Cons: lacked depth, especially close combat felt too simple. Scenarios wasn't so detailed but you can easily make up your own.

Thats a cool looking game.  The gang is particularly nice. It has a great mix of figures while still having an identity as a faction.

Awesome the pic of the mutant, sniper and cyborg has loaded properly for me! Wouldn't work over the weekend for some reason. I always liked that chaos champion with the long rifle miniature and you've done a cracking job on it. Fit's really well with the rest of your gang. You use that guy on the far right a Psyker? Another nice mini.  :D

Saw this thread on Saturday, looked at it once again on Sunday morning but by Sunday evening I had ordered a large bunch of figures from EM4 lol. Please explain to my Wife it wasn't my fault I crumbled and bought them honest!

Haha, well EM4 is not the most expensive manufacturer out there, but I suspect your fault(s) traces deeper than just this latest folly ;) But the minis are quite lovely despite being some 15 years old...

Alot of the ex-Grenadier sculpts are now going on 20 plus years and stand up really well for their age. Going to pick up some of the Copplestone range as well as some of the Spacelords Phagons as Necromunda has made a big come back at my local club. Oh well Wifes going to complain that the lead pile as grown again no doubt heh

The Phagons are high up on my want list too. Sadly, most of them are out of stock at the moment.

I could suspect Cooplestone to have sculpted these EM4 scavengers, they remind me alot of his style - the poses, sizes, boots, etc.

Ah, so I shouldn't reveal that those four minis are nowhere near completely painted - only base coats, shading and some highlights - missing the final highlights and details :)

I usually get my minis as tabletop ready as possible, these I forgot about so they've been sitting in a box for more than a year  ::) But soon, I'll finish them - only the lot on the far left are completelt finished (not that one could tell the difference haha).

And yes, the subtitle should have read Seer - he's one of the old Astropath minis from Grandma's Rogue Trading days. Lovely sculpt!

They are Copplestone sculpts.
