Title: Half materialised Police Box
Post by: yeomanmodels on 19 November 2013, 11:43:33 AM
Hello,
As well as the usual Police boxes I sell on eBay (1:100, 1:87, 1:73 and 28mm scale), we've also just started to make half materialised police boxes at 28mm scale. They aren't on eBay yet but what do you guys think? I think they look rather snazzy. We started to make them as a request form a guy on eBay but we were thinking of making some more.

Quick question, were these designed as a break area for the cops or as a place to make complaints to the police?

It's basically an emergency phone in a box. The ones that don't travel through time and space, that is.

This looks nicer than the Ainsty one I already got. Bugger...

I know Ainsty do already clear resin versions of it. However there is a market for it, I believe...

is it all clear resin with the top part painted?
or it is a mic with clear resin on the bottom and opaque blue resin on the top?

*inserts the "Shut up and take my money" meme here*

Oh yes - I would have one of those for sure...

One of my buddies has asked if you'd also do them in fully transparent resin?  He prefers your model to the Ainsty version.  I like this version but he's a better painter than I am and would like to try painting the de-materialization himself.

I'd go for one to supplement the 'solid' one I have

I put three of these on eBay and they all sold out pretty much instantly. We're making more and all going well the new batch should be on eBay this Friday.

As I understand it,these boxes were intended for use by the public when contacting the police for assistance.
The sign on the door of the Tardis contains the instructions. The phone I think was accessed only from the outside by the public, who I don't think could get inside.
And these are nice models.

My lab technician side says you made these using a "gradient former" but my hobbyist side says it was poured by hand with two cups of different coloured resin.  Anyway the result is very nice, I especially like that your version has the sign lettering moulded in: a boon for those of us without godlike freehand abilities.

I let my daughter paint in the texts... she does freehand on her nails all the time anyway.

More half Police Boxes are now back on eBay -

Well 'No Such Agency' your hobbyist side is correct, it is two resins poured by hand.  :)

If you look on my blog you can see peoples finished painted Police Boxes and the use of home made decals for the signs on the door and lamp across the top works quite well.

Yup.the inside could also be opened by police men and i think would have shovels and such. the public were free to use the phone in order to contact the emergency services.

there's a "newer" model one not far from me.(and by newer i mean early 60's)
