James Van Schaik and Fire For Effect Studios are proud to announce the launch of their kickstarter. It is an exciting initiative that brings the world of sculpting techniques to everyone through comprehensive, easy to follow, sculpting classes.
The courses offered are high quality courses filmed in HD without time lapse on techniques. You see everything as it is done, clearly and concisely, so you can learn the skills you need for adding to existing models and miniatures or sculpting your own. The courses will include a virtual classroom, several modules for each course, PDF quick cheat guides, module notes and references for students. There will also be a course forum for one on one attention from James Van Schaik while you are learning.
These courses are designed for everyone, whether you are new to using putty to enhance your models and miniatures or not. All skill levels, all jobs, learning that is easy and enjoyable.
The kickstarter runs from November 19th until December 9th and we are offering great incentives to backers of the project. Courses are offered at over 75% off what they will be when released to the general public. In addition, some great miniatures are being offered to backers including a chance to have your own private commission from James Van Schaik. Stretch goals are planned with the opportunity to receive free courses and special add ons.

Mate, you need to put up a link to your KS page. KS is notorious for being awful at searching for stuff...

Thanks. It is there but doesn't really show up.
Here it is again

How long are the videos, how would one just get the professional classes. All I can see in the pledge levels are basic, intermediate and advanced.

Hi,
Thanks for the questions. I updated the kickstarter so you can see the professional sculpting packages easier. Here are some of the faq's I put up that would answer your questions.
On the actual courses, this how long they are:
Courses vary in length depending on the course that you are taking and are subject to change between now and final edits. However, we have created a framework for every course for filming and will be following it for the most part. The only changes will be if we find a technique needs to be broken down further to make it easier to learn.
With that in mind, we look at the course in terms of modules. The following are the anticipated number of modules per course.
Basic Sculpting Courses:
These courses are the equivalent of taking a weeknight seminar course. For that reason, the courses will have between 2 to 4 modules. This is not a set number and again, will differ from course to course. For instance, the basic sculpting techniques course is more involved and covers a large amount of information. The expected number of modules is between 6 to 8 for that basic course.
Intermediate Sculpting Courses:
These courses are a bit more involved, although they are still easy to follow and can be taken by anyone. The courses are the equivalent of taking a weekend course and will range from 4 to 6 modules. Again, some courses may have more modules than 6.
Advanced Sculpting Courses:
These courses are quite extensive and you really have a lot of techniques to learn in each course. They would be the equivalent of taking a 2 to 4 week course and will range from 6 to 14 modules, depending on the course.
With the modules:
Modules do not have set times. If we are thinking about it in terms of a college course. One module would be the equivalent of one hour of learning. Each module will have:
Videos
Pdf Guides
Resources and References if needed
Homework if applicable
The videos will range in length but we are trying to keep them around the 10 to 20 minute lengths per MODULE so they don’t become tedious to watch. If a technique takes more than 20 minutes to complete, we may break it down into more than one video for the module or add an additional module.
Pro course videos will be roughly 1 hour per module.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
