After playing a VSF game at BLAM I have decided to try and get back into painting VSF figures.
I am going to run with the Venus setting. I already have British and Chinese that I can use. I have the start of a Captain Nemo army and have now decided to add some local natives.
Enter the Parrot men

I now only have another 43 to build and paint :'(

Who's a pretty boy then? Ace!

Good man, it's the wise choice! :D

What he said.
I wonder if Parrot Men will be able to "hold their own"? ;) lol
Lovely brushwork. ;D
-
No you don't have Venusians, you've got a Norwegian Blue Parrot, and just as Monty Python are about to get back together.
-
If I was painting alien parrot men I would get busy with some of that tasty luminous paint from vellejo!
-
Excellent Colin! Lovely finish! Only a another 50-odd to go?

If you fancy having a go at that, Colin, I have some Foundry luminous pots somewhere.

Very nice! :-*
-
Most excellent! :-*
Reminds me that I have a box of Parrot men awaiting similar treatment...

James

Great stuff ;D
-
Cool. Very nice feathers.
-
These are top notch! I really like the terrain piece from the first shot too. The kroot always struck me as one of the more versatile 40k ranges and they look like they make perfect Venusian parrot men (we all have a good idea what they should look like after all!). A great idea well executed. :)
-
Lovely work Colin!
Not going to do orange beaks? ;D
-
Great stuff, Colin.
Loving the Parrotmen, mate, and Nemo's boys look great.
All those stripes, you are a brave man.
:-* :-*
If you ever fancy painting in the dark just let me know.
:D ;)

Excellent work!

The Glasgow branch (pun intended) of the Royal horticultural society are currently on an expedition to Venus to gather some samples for the botanic gardens. While travelling by Aeronef they have managed to take a photo of a previously unseen parrot-man dwelling. The society members left this one picture on the Aeronef while they went on to carry out further investigations.
The Aeronef returned with this one picture but there is a plan to meet the society members tomorrow and it is hoped they will have some better photos, maybe even colour ones, if they survive.

I like that! I think you're the first person to make a dwelling based on the bit off fluff I wrote. I'm hoping to be able to finish my own village soon.
-
That's great; I love it! You and your brother are too damned talented for your own good (or at least for mine!). Lovely work sir and I look forward to seeing the society's watercolours! Cheers, Steve

And then we can bomb the C**p out of it. :D
The dwelling is looking ace Colin. ;D

Probably, especially given that Bibbles has sabotaged the parrot man fleets construction process!*
*the fact I have neither the time not space to work on them currently is immaterial.

Nice work, Colin.
I like the look of that.

Now then, Mr Dewbakuk: Where exactly is this fluff you mention?
:D

Yes Dean that's where the idea came from.
Cheers
First photo of the dwelling from the aeronef. Surprise, surprise the society party still seems to be alive.

A small report has been attached to the photos, by Prof May.B.Wight. The Dwelling seams to be an outlying farm. They seem to be omnivores and grow various crops and fruits. So far we have been unable to determine what kind of meat that they consume. It appears that there is no difference between the sexes and for an outsider it is impossible to tell them apart. The group/family all live in the one egg shaped hut mounted at the top of a rock spire. We have taken to calling this dwelling an Erie because of the bird like nature of the natives. The rope ladder can be lifted up in time of danger.
The report then goes on to describe in great detail the flowers in and around the local area etc.....
-
Looking Good Colin. ;D
-
Very nice.
-
Good or nice? Effing brilliant 'swhat it is!!! lol
I envy your skils and your time!
Omnivorous? That's the most dangerous kind of animal that exists! Just look at this planet! lol
-
Sweet!
I like that, oh yes.
8) 8)

That's fantastic mate :-* :-* :-*
Truly in the great VSF style 8)
Really looking forward to seeing more :)

Thanks guys
Really looking forward to seeing more :)

Not sure what else to do?
Anybody got any ideas?
-

Anybody got any ideas?
Bigger ones, smaller ones, several joined together over a few rock spires and then a parrot man town built on a craggy mountain :D
There's more if want ;)
cheers
James
-
Surely you need a couple more to make a village? Then maybe a bigger, leaders hut? One with enough space in it to hold a parrotmen war council?
BTW brilliant work Colin!! :-* :-* :-*
-
Yes: More is what you need!
:D
How about a communal hall type thing in the shape of a ring surrounding an open floor with 'perches' for all to sit on.....or a nesting area for eggs to be laid in and incubate....or some walkways to link areas together.....
-
Yes Dean that's where the idea came from.
Cheers
Good man :D
My village unfortunately went into attic storage when we moved house and never came out again. It's one of the, admittedly many, projects that should get completed once I can use my damned man cave!
As to what to add, I agree with more houses and suspended walkways.
Not my fault you're a slacker ;D
cheers
James
*cough* sketchup plans for balloon formers *cough*
-
Great work Colin. I must get back to finishing my parrotmen,
