looks interesting... I like that muskets and pistols appear to actually be a feature...
bit of an Assassin's Creed thing happening with some of the costumes...

and of course, Peter Capaldi as Richleau

Two things, crap BBC site doesn't give a start date (or not that I could find) and why is Porthos a coloured fella ???
cheers
James

nah, the press release just said 2014... although I'm guessing it will be early, as Doctor Who usually starts in March/April and I doubt they'll have Capaldi as a goodie and a baddie in the same week...

Fairy muff :)
cheers

Looks interesting.
Hope to see it here in the US.

Shame about the costumes.
They don't look wealthy enough to be musketeers, but they look to have very expensive swords.
-
why is Porthos a coloured fella ???
Homage to the Musketeers' creator?
Shame about the costumes.
They don't look wealthy enough to be musketeers
That is a shame. I was really looking forward to a dramatization of the "scamming their lovers' husbands out of money to buy fancy clothes" portions of the novel.
-
I just hope its better than Merlin or Atlantis.........
-
Well, it's not the same producers as those two, the director has done some Dr.Whos and the writer did the remake of the Survivors, so here's hoping!
-
They look too sci-fi for me. :?
-
As if the extensive use of leather wasn't ridiculous enough, the fake armour pieces look particularly odd. The period had such great and fancy costumes – why not use them as they are!
I do understand the need (if just imagined by producers) to 'sex up' history/historical fiction or to bring all kinds of audiences on board. Just cannot stand costume designers who limit research to computer games. That spoils most series like this – Spartacus, anyone? – for me. :-X

:o A matter of taste. Distatesful for those playing the THW or the ECW with high standards of historical accuracy, pleasant for players of 'All for One: Régime Diabolique', 'Pike and Shot and Zombies' or 'Witchfinder general'.
With such 'looks' can we hope for a few 'Da Vinciesque' contraptions à la '3 Musketeers 3D'?
And -most importantly- who will play Milady de Winter ??? o_o
-
and why is Porthos a coloured fella ???
More to the point is why have they got Chris Kamara playing him?
;)
-
why is Porthos a coloured fella ???
I had a knee jerk reaction to this as well, perceiving it as PC correctness intruding on past literature, but considering that by the mid 17th century France had been involved in the African slave trade for a couple of centuries and Alexander Dumas' own heritage it doesn't seem so out of place after all.
-
and of course, Peter Capaldi as Richleau
Hang on isn't he supposed to be the new Dr Who ??? ??? Ah well I suppose time travel does have its advantages lol lol
-
Musketeer Fantasy! :D :D :D
-
well that was great fun, clothing aside (but still not as stupid as Robin Hood's costume design) although I do now dread the plot where the pistol ball is matched to Aramis' pistol...
