How many time have you chaps played Call of Cthulhu rpg?.....how about losing your sanity in a more agreeable time frame :)
Lovecraft the card game....
Howard Phillips "H. P." Lovecraft was an American author who achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction.
Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror: life is incomprehensible to human minds. Those who genuinely reason, like his protagonists, gamble with sanity.
Lovecraft the card game allows you to rewrite the Cthulu Mythos hopefully without you losing your sanity!

Just curious if anyone else thinks that the goat logo above is too similar to the Strange Aeons Cult of the Black Goat logo.

Are they both too similar to the sigil that is, interestingly, quite old but also trademarked today?

Looks cool, paulus! Any details on how it plays?

Hi lads...thanks for the input...a few details about the game....each player takes on the roll of H.P. Lovecraft....each player has a story board and then you play cards from your hand to either your own story board or an opponents....the tricky bit is that if you play a card to your own story board you lose sanity....if you play cards on a opponents board you don't....certain cards have variable powers....especially the beasties.....the main thing that is slowing the release down is that the playtesters want more cards ....thats the trouble with the Cthulhu Mythos....lots of theme and a rich tapestry to work on :)

ps the elder sign seems to be different in my opinion from the Sigil of Baphomet and also the Strange Aeons design?....I'm sure if needed though another Elder Sign can be produced :)

Hi Dave....I'm a big fan of the Pulp Alley system...would be nice to see more Cthulhu inspired shennigans in the world of Pulp Alley, your plot point idea is very good indeed :)

I'm hoping to use Cthulhu as my eventual background, once I get going with PA. At first the games will have to be basic and conventional to warm folks up to PA and introduce the rules, but my-medium-term goal for PA gaming is to be buying cultists and fishmen. :D

I don't think that what you have is an Elder Sign.

Thanks, Paul. I hope we can eventually do a full-blown mythos/horror campaign for Pulp Alley. Maybe this card game will get me inspired. ;D

I think so too. The actions skills would be great for investigation and npc interactions :)

Now to get this post back on track ;)...its no use having a Cthulhu story without a location to investigate....

As much of a Lovecraft fan as I am, I'll be assing on this as I have passed on all pevious Mythos based card games. Just not a big fan. Now, throw some miniatures in there and it's a different story. And if I were, while certainly pleasant looking and well executed, the art style just doesn't say "creepy" to me. Although don't take it the wrong way, I wish you the best of luck with your campaign and endorse anything that may introduce a new reader to the incredible worlds of the Gentleman from Providence.

Since you have the base game playtested, I highly recommend posting a PnP (or demo version) of the game as well as ruleset on BoardGameGeek if you haven't done so already! (:
Also, contact reviewers with the PnP, and, in return, provide them with a copy of the final game. Not sure which Cthulhu card games are most popular, but I guess you can browse the Arkham Horror reviews on BGG, PM some reviewers, and ask them if they'd be interested? Myself, I've written various RPG reviews on DriveThruRPG and would be interested. Since these are storytelling cards, I think I can write up some simple variant games based on Atlas' Games Once Upon A Time and the Baron Munshausen RPG as freebies to add to the backer updates. You can also pitch them as RPG aids, similar to the Pathfinder NPC cards. (For monsters, the GM selects a card and describes the monster, without revealing the picture to the players!)
A friend of mine is an HPL fan and has successfully published an anime RPG as a KS and I can put you in touch with him. Not sure how much he can help, but never hurts to ask!
Good luck!

Hi Ced....thanks for the input and offer of help...I already have plenty of play testers who all seem to add more and more to the game....
Cheers
Paul :)
