Anyone have any recommendations for military histories covering the Pyrrhic War?
I'm not really aware of any books focussed specifically on it. Do know of one fairly recent biography of Pyrrhus, and of course Livy & Plutarch, but military histories I fear are rather lacking. Any suggestions of good sources would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Issue VI, 4 of the Ancient Warfare magazine, focussed on Pyrrhos' campaigns, should be a good, up-to-date starting point. Find the table of contents and a shop link here (http://www.karwansaraypublishers.com/cms/karwansaray/ancient-warfare/about/readmore-aw/13-ancient-warfare/ancient-warfare-issues/62-ancient-warfare-vi-4.html).

There is an Osprey/Pen and Sword book that deals with Pyrrhus and his life (called Pyrrhus of Epirus by Jeff Champion), as well as his campaigns. I actually enjoyed it quite a lot as some writers tend to really make some dry stuff, riddled with useless 'academic' language almost to just show off and bore the reader.
Furthermore the Roman Conquests series (again by Osprey in the Pen and Sword format) also deals with Pyrrhus campaign in Italy but more from Romes perspective.
I don't know of anymore books on the subject though, I don't think the Epirote really got a lot of interest, though doubtless there will be more in depth academic literature. I think because the Punic wars have a tendency to suck up most of the attention, the Italian campaigns get left out. I guess just a general search would help to find anything but you can never be to sure if a book is right for you/worthwhile until you've read a bit of it.
