Good morning folks. Does anyone know of any online sites that give descriptions of legere drummers?
Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the link.

It depends on the period you wish to do : the 1812 regulations theoretically put all Légère drummers in the Imperial lively, though not all regiments followed the new regulations as the illustrations below show :

No imperial green for the 1st Légère drummers, then. The pic is hotlinked from Frédéric Berjaud's excellent Soldats de la Grande Armée website. It's all in French, but abundantly illustrated and offers in-depth coverage of the history of several Légère regiments. The links below will take you to the 1st and 7th Légère pages respectively :

The pre-1812 period is a complex subject, with many regiments being a law unto themselves when it came to clothing their drummers and musicians. It's best to have a particular unit in mind and research its specific uniform.

Thanks for the links Arthur. I am mostly interested in the period before 1812. I am trying to get an idea of how some of the regiments dressed their drummers.
