Our second game Bolt Action in the Pacific.
Still working on a good balance of forces.

The Marines are all West Wind and the Japanese are a mix of Battle Honours, TAG, West Wind and Warlord.

Good looking game.

Did you play with even sides? If so it's not surprising :)
I did some Bolt Action mods to allow fairer asymmetrical games of Bolt Action that are available in this Scrivsland blog article (http://scrivsland.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/bolt-action-11-stepping-away-from.html)

Hey Guys,
The die holders were made by Eli out of GW bases I believe.
As to points, the Marines had slightly more, plus 3 preliminary bombardments and each landing craft was considered to have a MMG that fired each time a unit was activated from that craft. Only on the first round to simulate covering fire.
In hindsight, we decided that the next game would have more marine grunts and double the bambardment.

Very nice looking game, enjoyed seeing those photos! Thanks!

Fine looking set up you have there.

Too bad about the Marines getting slaughtered, next time maybe use 2 marines for each jap defender. That should give you a better game. The use of jap tanks on the beach would be a little worrysome for the marines too.
None the less, the terrain and miniatures are amazing!! well done

There is a reason the Japanese never contested island invasions on the beach. The marines should have several battleship's worth of direct firing heavy howitzers & all the air power they ever wanted to plaster any Japanese foolish enough to reveal their positions by firing from the beach edge. Plus smoke bombardments to cover the landing marines.

What? More often than not, the Japanese chose to contest invasions on the beach as part of their doctrine. Naval bombardments did some damage but was not the all powerful tool we all think it was.

Thanks for all the kind words!
We're planning for a third game in Febuary,
more marines, some water obstacles and maybe a cave complex.
Looks like Warlord games will be releasing their plastic marines
soon enough.

Is that teddy bear faux fur ?

Hey Meso,
The sea cloth is an old GeoHex seacloth.
I believ Monday Knight Games makes a similar one.
The beach is just felt.
