Title: So, is there something about Yahoo groups going on?
Post by: Conquistador on December 28, 2013, 07:14:38 PM
I use two groups to back up my PDF files primarily but today loading, moving, creating folders results (not always but darn near) in:

Document Not Found

Sorry, the document you requested is not available.

Please click here to visit the Yahoo Groups home page.

Anyone else having problems?

Gracias,

Glenn

Going by the topic title, I would've said it's something to do with the ill-advised shift to their 'neo' format. But even I have trouble figuring how that would affect stored pdfs and such.

Their new format is quite horrible. Even worse on an iPhone. Almost impossible to use, in fact.

Sometimes the words "New and Improved" fill me with dread...  Not joking...

Indeed. The 'neo' thing is a nightmare.

I'd suggest Dropbox for backing up and accessing files. You can even give out URLs to files for people to download.

THanks, I will have to check that out.  My patience with Yahoo is wearing quite thin the last month...

Dropbox is easy enough to use, if you are OK with the security aspects, such as having their sync'ing software on your machine, and their at times cheesy (i.e. with some holes) encryption of user data and accounts. That said, if you don't use it for anything sensitive, it should be OK, but then again you shouldn't use cloud storage for anything like that in the first place.

You can also use a google drive account to upload and host files. That's been my preferred method. You just have to tell drive not to convert the files to drive format.
