a nice scene from the old russian movie "Chapaev" with the psycho attack of Kornilovcy :)

Holy hell, that gave me goosebumps! :o
Is that based on a historical battle? I know nothing about the RCW, so sorry if I'm asking something stupid and obvious.
Those guys with their jackboots, skull and crossbones banner and implacable, parade-ground marching are really something else. No wonder the defenders were frit of them.

yes, on some of them, that was really from time to time the way they attacked the Reds. On the battle of Ekaterinodar they drove the Red force to flee thought the Bolsheviks had five times more soldiers.
Kornilovcy was an elite troop, the oldest and most famous troop of the White Russian force, it was a special honour to be a Kornilovec. And especially the scene from the movie shows one of the legendary officier regiments.

Pretty cool. Makes me want to refresh my Russian. I only picked out a few bits, not that there was much talking anyway.
-
Fire, you idiots. :o
-
Awesome! They didnt attack like that though, did they?
-
Yeah, I don't think I'd strip off my jacket and tell a bunch of men on march attack with fixed bayonets to hit me in the heart.
I think I would boldly advance in fervent revolutionary spirit in the other direction.

they really did :) (see also my reply above)

Great film clip. 8)
I found myself shouting to the girl to stop messing around and fire the MG. ::)
-
Thanks for the reply Prof. :) That's some cojones on those guys.
It's kind of weird when you watch it, you go from thinking "oh you stupid sods, you're going to be killed!" when you see them marching toward the guns, and then there's a slow reversal and you end up mentally cheering "Yes! Go on! Into the filthy Reds with you! Give em a taste of the cold steel!"
I want to see the rest of the movie now. Is it readily available, do you know?

russian language, with english subtitles, the movie is good, but from the perspective of Reds, thus the Whites are bad and the Reds are good. One of these old good movies that I loved being a young boy. Stuff like this theached me to love all that Russian Revolution and Russian Civil War stories and things.
-
Thanks again, that is very tempting. I will add that to the list of movies to buy to watch when The Woman is out.

Could'nt get thethe clip on my home computor fortunately the one at work did'nt have any problems . WoW nice action clip reminded me of a still photo I've seen of two advancing russian columns taken from just behind a German machine gun position in 1914?Fortunately there was no photo after the m.Guns opened up. Thanks for the clip I have'nt seen many films on the rcw

:o :o God how cool is that !!!!
-
Amazing. This could inspire me to build more Russian units for my Boxer Rebellion/ Russo-Japanese War collection. No, No, No!!! I have too many projects already.
-
must resiste! must finish NWF before I get into other era's.
Damn I want to make a unite of Black uniformed Whites nows! :-*
Damn you Witchheimer! Damn you! My walliet hates you right now. :D
-
If it was me like the girl in the film I'd be utilising the maxim with maximum effect of enfilade fire from a defilade position! That would have sorted out that fine, brave officer regiment! 8)
As they say "Band by the Centre, Battalion by the right, quick....march!" 8)
-
That was really cool! :D Has anyone painted that White unit yet?
