I've not dabbled much on the Medieval side of things myself so I'm hoping you fine fellows could put forward suggestions for some Medieval skirmish rules. I'm hoping to lure a new victim into the wargaming hobby & Medieval seems to pique his interest the most. I now just need to find the right bait :D
I appreciate that there are dozens of free rules out there, plus endless Medieval mods shoe-horned into rules for other eras, but I'm struggling to find a bright & shiny, professionally produced printed book of rules specifically written for Medieval skirmishes. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. At this stage, style over substance is probably the order of the day so something with lots of pretty pictures would help.
Any ideas?

I'm awaiting rules from warploques archworlde kickstarter.
I asked similar question awhile back

Wait a couple of weeks we have a foot melee in our second set of rules, see jousting rules out in January and our advert in this months wargames illustrated....you might like them who knows!

Sounds promising :)
Any further info or details about these & the jousting rules?

Hi Stavros,
There will be a new set of medieval skirmish rules launched later in the year (September?) by Osprey, called Lion Rampant.

Hi,
If you like simple rules here is my modification to Legends of the Old West / Lord of the Rings :
Legends of the Feudal Times (12th/13th skirmishes)

"Lion Rampart" sound very well, but it is for September :(.
I´m reading "Pig Wars" in this moment, a not bad ruleset for small action (and not so small, with 20 figures per unit).

Saga will be coming out with a Crusades era supplement in Feb. Other than that, what about the War of the Roses supp for Sharpe Practice? Those would be my first choices for mid-size. If you want really small (20 figs or less), I've heard good things about Brink of Battle.
-
On a side note, does anyone know if the Lion Rampant rules will become a stand-alone game, or do you need additional books to play it?
-
Thanks for the suggestions, chaps. Very much appreciated.
Lion Rampant looks very promising but the September release date is a very long way off. I had completely forgotten about Pig Wars & Brink of Battle. Bit stupid of me as I already own both rulesets. Quite enjoyed the few Brink of Battle games I've played in the past so might dust them off & give them another whirl. The Legends of the Feudal Times looks interesting too, will check them out later. Not really a big fan of the GW 'system' but they are simple & fun enough to use.
Thanks again :)

Thank you, Olivier.
I will use your fine set of skirmish rules the upcoming weekend around the old home table.
I know my chums will enjoy the game.
Best,
Senders
