Title: My Peninsular British for Sharp Practice
Post by: sonicReducer on January 03, 2014, 10:09:03 AM
Hi all,

First time posting any minis :D  although they aren't the best pictures ever  :(

Currently working on some British for Sharp Practice - my opponent has French and French-allied Germans. This is also my first foray into Napoleonics, although I've been gaming for quite a while. I wanted to stick to 28mm and Sharp Practice really hits the right notes, great ruleset.

I have 10 line all done and dusted. The first 5 took me forever as I had to keep looking up colours for their uniforms but I'm happy with how they look and the next 5 were much quicker. These are Victrix Centre Company plastics - lovely details and poses.

Took a break from all that red and white to paint up 6 Rifles. Quicker than the line, but still lots of uniform lookups! These are a mix of Perry metals and plastics - mostly metal.

Another 10 Line to build, 30 in all still to paint, with some Big Men. Currently putting together 14 2nd King's German Legion Hussars, also Perry plastics.

Hope you like, will keep posting as I get stuff finished. Too much on the go and I tend to be pretty slow

Great work. Those Perry's rifles are some of my fave models ever.

I like them a lot. I am not an expert on the period by any means, but yours look cool enough to me. My 'research' into the period consists of watching Sharpe and Hornblower

I keep finding myself drawn to sharp practice as I love Nap uniforms, but baulk at the idea of painting hundreds of figures before I can get a game in.

Nice work and it does get quicker with practice (and being used to the uniform details).

Sharp Practice only really needs around 40 figures per side to play depending on the scenario, it isn't a big battle system by any means.

Those figures came out great! I'm thinking about picking up Sharpe's practice. I have a bunch of Flintloque figures that I want to game with and those rules look perfect for the scale game I want to play. Have you tried the rules yet?

Thanks all for the kind words :)

More to come hopefully, in between painting my Flames of War and Infinity stuff.

Yup, I've had a few small games with a buddy, 20 - 30 line per side and some skirmishers. Rules are fantastic, the card system is very dramatic (far more so than IGOUGO) and infantry can only really take a few rounds of musketry before you are struggling to keep them together. Really great ruleset, we are going to increase the amount of infantry and add in some cavalry and maybe a field gun per side. Highly recommended
