looking good!

They are indeed.
 :-*

I keep coming back to these as I am tempted to use them myself, ironically for my own 'D Troop'*.
I will most likely end up caving in as they are such nice characterful figures, better than my Artizan ones which I have.....

*D Troop is my own US Government force utilising the Lawmen list from LotOW.

Excellent, they have a nice "John Ford" look to them. Anyone for a chaw of tobacco? :)

So, the reason "D Troop Ain't Coming Back" is because they've lost their horses?!  lol

I actually worked on my old west 15 mm collection today.  Well, if you count working on the cattle.  I have some 28s to paint for someone for a local club game, all domestic livestock, and figured I might as well get my stuff ready to paint at the same time since I will have the right colors out on the table - scale hardly matters in this case.

Very nice figures.

Great looking figures and terrain. Your painting style has really brought them to life. Lance is truly an artist when it comes to sculpting figures. Well done sir!! Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant  ;D Great paint jobs and lovely pics  :) You've got a definite John Ford look to them, which is praise indeed as far as I'm concerned.
The other thing that really delighted me seeing these pics and the way you've displayed them on the rocky outcrops is that they remind me of the photographs of C Troop, 3rd Cavalry out of Fort Davis, Texas in the mid 80s, spread out on a rocky hillside, you've probably seen them, in one there's an officer standing with his hand on the saddle of his grey. Your pictures very much reflect the mood.

Chaps, I've only sculpted 2 mounted versions so far: the one on the website and the bugler. I'll be doing mounted versions of all, but can't yet say when they'll be finished, but they certainly will be along.  :D

Cheers,
Lance

I caved in today and ordered the set.
I have to say that I am really looking forward to getting my mitts on them and waving a brush in their direction.

Does anybody have a link for the breakdown of a US cavalry troop during the late 1800's?  I can't find a solid number or organization, though I've seen 104 soldiers all included.  Mainly curious about the number of officers and NCO's in a given troop.

Great figures.
Great service.
What more could you want?

Even better when there was a 'Soldiers Free' cowboy included in my order.

A great figure, and one that I am extremley happy with.
Thanks, Galloping Major!

Deedles, sir, might I trouble you for your horse painting technique - if it is not a closely guarded family secret, of course?

So, now that C Troop has some mounts, just when will they be out on campaign?  Better be soon or there just might be another cut in funding from those folks in congress.

And to think, when Lance gets his out you'll certainly be adding even more.  Which means even more foot figures, which means even more opponents, which means...

These were just a quick and simple job.. I undercoat in a brown enamel - this was humbrol 62 leather , which i think helps to give a bit more warmth to the final look.

I used foundy bay colours for the base coat, mixed with some vallejo to give a variation, gave them a wash with vallejo sepia wash , and just highlight a top colour.

These look pretty swanky bud....just finishing off 9 mounted troopers myself..though Artizan.   I use / get a similar effect on chesnuts but I use old GW dark flesh highlighted in bestial brown and given a simple wash in nuln oil.  Works a treat.

I do like these figures though...just a shame they wount mix in too well with the Artizan.    I have just ordered a pack of apaches from GM...more scope to match them in with my others as they are more irregular in appearance...though not sure how they will stack up height wise with my Black Scorpions...

I may be tempted if he brings out a couple of cavalry wagon riders though....hint ;)

I have both BS stuff and the GM Cavalry troopers and they seem to work pretty well together.
I think the trick is to keep the integral base on the GM chaps and build around it and they should be fine.
