I don't get much opportunity to play miniatures games, so I like the fact that I can play a game in an hour or so. In fact, today a friend and I got in five games in an afternoon. He decided that his Threshold team were going to be a hillbilly family, the McGinneys, and we followed their adventures over a series of conflicts with local cults.
We started with a Fight, as a cult raided the family farm.

Some of the family took up cover behind the sheep fold:

Paw and young Jethro got a little closer:

Next scenario was Escape ... to Danger. Returning from the still, the family discovered a small group of cultists and fishmen waiting for them.

Next was an artefact hunt. The McGinneys decided to pick up some supplies in town...

... only to find trouble waiting for them.

The McGinneys, victorious in every scenario so far, decided to try the Devil's Hopyard scenario. The cultists were gathered to conduct their evil ritual.

A hideous demon was summoned:

The family put it down, though. But the final scenario was rough for them: a single demon attacked their farm, killing one and wounding the rest.

This has given me some ideas for my next go 'round, as well.
I am really enjoying this game.

Great post, inspiring, as I'd want to play now, too.
And I just love that hideous monster haha

Five games in a day!...and I thought I was crazy! Glad to hear you like it so far and welcome aboard!

Wonder if someone could do Metallica's Call o Cthulhu to a banjo?
-
Great stuff, James.
Glad to see you getting into SA.

Five games, eh?
Impressive.
I once managed four in a day, which was against different opponents each time, but five...?
o_o

So does five games in a day make you a wargaming ace? :D

Considering I lost four of 'em, probably not!

You are lucky that you didn't open some sort of dimensional portal...you didn't open a portal, did you? :o

I took that page out after the mess with the first printing, remember?

See, you all act like five games is crazy, but we started about 1.30 pm and were done before dinner. Maybe it's just that most of my regular opponents live not very close to me, so we tend to make a day of it. It's one of the things I really like about SA -- the short games combine with the campaign structure so that not only can you get a bunch of games in in one day but they form a clean little narrative.

Not exactly crazy, mate.
I played three on Monday and that took a few hours.
Five is easily possible in a day but I would need a couple of breaks in between or they would all meld into one... o_o
The main thing is you are enjoying it............ and welcome to the Cult!
;D
