A few days ago I started with Dust Tactics. I painted up a few figures and Tomas and I played two games.
It was great few. The rules was fun and the figures really great to paint.
I started a new blog to collect my rantings.

cool Stuff :) That's a nice Camo Pattern :P

Do they sell an unpainted version of that figure, or did you repaint yours?
I'm asking because the only 1:35 version of that figure I was able to find for sale online was the painted version (in pseudo-DAK scheme) which actually isn't too bad at all. I'm wondering if I missed something?
-
Thanks Dr!
FramFramson:
I think you are correct. These are the 1:48 scale.
-
Ahhhh, okay.
Yes, I picked up the 1:35 version for use with regular 28mm - 32mm Pulp gaming. She'll be on the obligatory nazi team.
-
Ugh! I'm a goof! I realized I had my scales backwards yesterday.
I picked up 1:48 myself, not 1:35 (which would obviously be too big for 30mm). So there is an unpainted 1:48 version? I guess I should/could have gone with that?
-
FramFramson: I also do it all the time. You can buy the un-painted here:
http://www.dustgame.com/products.php?sid=25 (http://www.dustgame.com/products.php?sid=25)
They also sell the painted version on the same site (but not the same page). The painted versions are called "deluxe" or "premium". Painted: http://www.dustgame.com/products.php?sid=32 (http://www.dustgame.com/products.php?sid=32)
-
Haha, I feel like a bit of dope.
But on the other hand, I guess I paid only $15 more for a reasonably decent paintjob with some pretty fine detail!
... only I might need to repaint her in the regular feldgrau, rather than the pseudo-DAK anyway. Haha! o_o

Now I have updated my blog with some pictures of my Sturmpionieren and a few words about what I like/dislike about them.

And don't forget to vote for what you think about the models (not the painting).

I really like your painting of Lena and Kate.

Tomas and I have just started playing Dust tactics. This was the second time we played and the first scenario for the evening was a total disaster for me, but I had a great time! We played scenario 3 from Victory Bridge where I (German) tried to charge over the bridge into the warm and fuzzy arms of the SSU.
Here are more pictures and what happen to you if you show up at the battle un-painted:

Hi BjornF,
Like you painting, especially the Sturmpionieren.
I've not used the Dust rules, how does the movement work?, it appears to be square terrain pieces..

Hi Wolt,
Thanks.
In Dust Tactics you move from a square to another. I like it, there is no need to be a master of using rulers, or argue about milimeters. But some don't like it. Dust Warfare on the other hand use "normal" tabletop movement rules (if I understand it correctly).

Hi BjornF,
Thanks for that, I was confused by Dust being referred to as both. That clarifies it.
I don't mind square terrain based movement, I used to play PBI by TooFatLardies which are an umpire based WW2 rules set, it worked fine once you get over the chess idea..
Love the blog btw, ill keep an eye on developments..

After seen the SSU trash-cans on the battlefield I needed to get something to counter them. I bought a few Sturmaffe and a lot of Zombies. The Sturmaffe looked most fun to paint so it was a easy choice where to start. Go to my blog for more pictures and a quick statistical look at how good they are in combat.

There are two rule sets for the Dust minis. Dust-Tactics uses the boards with squares, while Dust-Warfare is a more traditional table top game.

My blog has been quite for a week, but now I'm back with a house.
I don't like building terrain, or paint them. I totally suck at that. I still suck, but it was fun. Here is all the parts of the house:

I have the first edition game I'm getting rid of if you have any interest. I'll even do a deal on the plastics if that's all you're interested in.

Too Bo Coo: I have send you an email.

Tomorrow will be the next battle. I love my Sturmaffe, but they are to weak so I bought Markus to lead them. I like the combo of his Charge and their Fast skills and that he has a lot of Health. Read more about him on my blog (if you are intrested):

Hi Bjorn, I like your figures, they look good.
How do you find the Dust Tactics game? I'm looking at picking up a starter box. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Cheers
Matt

not bjorn but the company has the rules available free online and soon they will be selling starter box armies for around $50 us, hope you get the chance to enjoy them.
-
Thanks Bertrand,
I enjoy it very much. I have played the new version twice and I do think it is better than the older (which I also liked).
Tactics is simple. Maybe not as simple as it looks like, but almost. Some may think it is bad, but I think it can be pretty good because they game is now more about the tactics.
I think that the most important thing is to make a good army, choose the right troops. I had big problems when my enemy fielded SSU trash cans for the first time (and lots of them). I had at that time very few things that could kill armour 4 infantry.
I like the movement system. With squares it is more about tactics and what you want, and less about measuring things into absurdum. We are talking about maybe trying Dust Warfare, but we would in that case continue using the grid.
The dice has 3 different symbols. So it is easy to see how many hits or saves you make. Different weapons and armors give you different amount of dice. Because you have a data card for each unit it is easy to see the amount.
There are not so many units, and it isn't so easy to make your own stuff.
There are many good scenarios. Most are great fun, but I think that some are more or less impossible to win if you don't have the exact right force. But still they are fun to play.
The playing time is quite right for us, between 1-2.5 hours.
And they have released a house which is really fun to play with.
And as the Gun Bunny says you can download all rules and scenarios from their site.
Cheers,
Björn

Thanks guys. I bought the revised core, an extra light walker and jet bomber/gunner. See how we go with that. I don't really like the zombies or gorillas as an idea - that's a bit too weird. Just plain humans and tech for me please.
Just played my first game with simplified rules and lost - but the wife won. Perhaps with a victory she may be willing to have another go? :)
Cheers

it looks like a rally nice game, I just have no one to play it with, so a new home it goes! But I'm just pleased it'll be played.
I like the idea of Weird War II, and the Nazi Zombies do seem thematic to me.
CB, I'm going to use that strategy to get my better half to play X-Wing and Attack Wing :D
