A new year and a fresh start to my hobby. A revamp of how I approach things, slowing down, enjoying creating small warbands and restyling my bases to neutral, color mottled wastelands of chaos on 30mm multibases. First up is Morbius' skeletons.

Great start! The only problem w/ the slow and detailed approach is that the lead mountain can grow by leaps and bounds if the purchases don't slow down too! ::)
-
lol
These look great. Nice colours tying them together.
-
Hi Dave,
Love them!
Fantastic colours on the cloth and skin of Morbius. Really like the blue to green technique.
You really have your own painting style.
Fanboy Dr. Moebius
PS: It seems that you are on a never ending basing quest lol
-
These are sick. :)
Love the blending.
Intriguing how the blue x blue-green pops in your technique.
Thanks for the peep.
Have been enjoying the warband qua skirmish style for a bit now, hope it works out for you too.
-
The Living Impaired Lads look TERRIFIC . Your color choices, brushwork, & bases are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Excellent work, I like how the cloak changes colors. :)
-
I love the cool colour blends and deep sea tones on these deadites. Morbius looks cool! And the cheeky mushrooms and chaos shore on the bases are great.
(I also love Skulldred, Dave — do tell what's happening with it...)
-
Awesome colours!!!
I really like them all, especially the necromancer.
-
Oh I really like these, great work and tons of character!!!

solid!

Yeah, stop mucking about and get those rules finished! Just kidding ;)
Superb painting! Love the colours & tones you've used on these. Brilliant, as always...
-
That Broo is f**king beyond awesome.
-
Brooriffic! Seriously fantastic work there!!!
-
Cheers all.
:D
2013 was a big soul searching year, and one of the things I decided was to focus on enjoying the minis rather than racing to get them all done. I had moments of crushing desperation thinking I would never get them all done. And if I did the maths I could not. So, instead its going to be one small warband of each race- then expand those outwards.
I also finally slew the basing monster with the standard base and just get on with everything ontop of it. There is no perfect base for all situations. This checks the most boxes.
One challenge for this year is to complete the figures for my John Blanche undead assault diorama homage as Skulldred warbands. The dwarfs are all but done but I still need a lot of the undead.
-
Any news as to when Skulldred will be finished or the next playtest will be available? I have the old 2.05 version, but I know there are newer versions out there that I can't get my hands on. This is really disappointing because these rules seem to have a lot of potential.
-
The new beta is being proofread right now, and I hope to have it posted up once that is done. 3.3 will be the new free edition (with just the core rules, some abilities and some spells), and 4.0 will be the closed beta. I will be updating my mailing list and memberships after the free beta is posted, then everyone who applied will get emailed inviting them in.
Oooh, it is SO nice to have my energy back!
-
That's great news, Dave :)
-
Love those paint jobs. :-*
-
CONGRATULATIONS on the energy surge/return! If you could bottle it, I'd order a case.
-
Nice work on the Broo. Beastmen/Broo are my favorite evil fantasy army and its fantastic to see them awesomely painted!
-
Ooh, very nice! I love the colour choices!
-
Didn't even know you were still working on them!
EDIT: GREEEEEEEAT WORK TOOO!! :-* :-*

Been there, so I know exactly what you mean. I turned away from the hobby for a while, because I realized that I was building stress instead of relaxing. Too many projects, nothing ever finished.
Now, I use my hobby time catching up on the small ubfinished projects, and break up the larger projects into smaller stages, so I can finish a stage and then do something else for a while, without feeling bad about it.
As for bases, I decided on a lazy all-round approach a long time ago. Some may dislike it, but, hey, it's my minis, and they fit on most tables :)
I have one of your first playtest copies of Skulldred, somewhere, and I remember wanting to play the rules, so I look forward to, when you reach the next stage of that project.
BTW:
Are all the undeads in the first post old Citadel sculpts? I'm pretty sure, the one with the big spear is, as it is clearly built on the same basic figure that was used for 3 old Imperial Foot Knights I own, and the other ones do seem to strike a chord in the back of my mind.
-
Yep, all citadel!

Yep, all citadel!

Their minis had 'soul' back then. If that can be said about undeads... ::)
