Made from a 1/48 Curtis R3C racer, one Disney Rocketeer rocket pack from the 8" bend-em toy and some spatted wheels from a 1/48 AMT Lockheed Vega [horrible kit].
This will be the mount of that famous/infamous Aero Viking/Mercenary/Vigilante of the Sky, Lonestar!
Here are links to my prior pulp rocket plane.

Very cool and pulpy, reminds me a bit of the Duck Tales plane.

There is no way I'm flying in that if Launchpad McQuack's the pilot.
-
That's the Spirit of St. Awesome!

Thanks for all the kind words.
Here it is with a bit of greenstuff and the figure for Lonestar, the Cowboy of the Skys!

Lonestar is the famous Lobster Johnson fig with a hat from the Reaper Bones Shadow figure.
Now for some paint.
And with all these do gooders rocketing around, there needs to be a bad guy to fight [or Bad Girl ;)]

The Red Baroness and her infamous Flying Wing!

Its just the 1/48 testors Komet sans rudder to give it that wingish look.

Maybe add a pair of small rudders mid-wing, or on the wingtips? That'll help distinguish it further from the Komet and shouldn't be too difficult to do.
-
I kind of like the idea of winglets on the Komet, but I really, really like the Sky Cowboy's mount! Can't wait to see them painted.
-
Winglets?
Gents, thanks for the idea. ;D

Nice work!

Is that partially from a kit or your own design? :o :o :o
Darrell.

Reminds me a bit of Yeager's X-1!

The idea was to make a pulp flying wing similar to those seen in Airboy or Sky Captian. So I started with the 1/48 Testors Me-163 kit and simply cut off the tail fin. Then some blokes on here suggested winglets. I happened to have some left over from the Curtiss Rocketplane conversion, and so I tried the left over fins on the wing and viola the X-163 was born.

Outstanding work. I love the sky cowboy
