Hi all LAFers
For a long time I've been dreaming about modular city table where i can play any modern/sci-fi games with my friends
So I managed to collect enough materials to start but than i had no free time :'(
This week i was sick so I had some free time in my hands ;)
I am starting this blog to :
1 keep the track of progress
2 be able to show my friends whats done and
3 the most important to be motivated by You dear LAFers to keep working on project
Table will be build of 300x300 mils tails, i am planning to start with 6 tails what'll give me nice small 2x3 gaming area perfect for small skirmishes.
Have a look, comments and advice will be appreciated.
Cheers T

Looks like a good start, I'll be interested to watch your progression before I do it myself :)
What material are you using for the tiles?

Hi SogMot
It looks like you have taken the same approach as I did. It works really well. Advice I would give is that, once you expand, you won't need as many crossroads sections as you first think. Remember to have some blank "raised" squares for plazas and closely grouped buildings.
Plan your squares in advance so that you can cut out the raised pavement sections in a batch useful shapes: e.g. Cutting a square into 9 smaller squares (noughts and Crosses style) will provide the squares that are needed on both the crossroads sections and the T sections.
Be sure to have plenty of other scenery (planters, walls etc.) as you will find the design leads to large open areas with no cover.

Hi
Dewbakuk and baldlea thanks for kind words and advice.
What material are you using for the tiles?
Material i used is 2.5 and 3 mm thick plastic - i got some from friend who works for recycling company he told me this stuff is used for some vacuum forming ( like cars dashboards or interior elements ).
Hope this helps.
More photos tomorrow.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to some pictures!

Hi
I managed to add some detail to tile 2 and 3
(http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/593/n10r.jpg) (https://imageshack.com/i/ghn10rj)
plus this is how I'll do my manhole covers, what do you think? IMO it will add some more detail and help me break the "flatness" of tiles' surface.

Looking good. I'd planned to do some streets usable from the Victorian era up to modern and was going to do it the same way. I picked up some depron for the pavements. I haven't done it yet as I was up to over 20 tiles planned!
I'm looking forward to seeing yours develop.

You could make a cool tower out of that Pepsi bottle! ;)
It's looking great so far! Are you gonna paint the vehicles?

I like the sidewalks, looks pretty futuristic to me :)
I'd like to see some (and by some I mean A LOT) of trash on the streets >:D

It's taking shape nicely now.
