Just finished painting my first LOTR Finecast miniature, one of the new Laketown Guardsmen. I've got to say, apart from a flimsy, bent sword and a bit of trouble with the joins (both of which could have easily happened in metal), I was very impressed with the figure. There were no air bubbles and the detailing was incredible.

This guy will also be joining the crew of the Glaurung. More info about that, the figure, and a couple more pics on my blog: http://www.therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/traegan-of-dale-volunteers-for-glaurung.html

I hate the design by PJ but the model ist really nicely painted. And the background story is just the way I like them. Well done.

When I saw the figures the other day my first thought was they'd make great Streltsy type troops if you change the stupid hat. However the price and 'finecast' happily prevented that departure :)
Glad you got on well with it and didn't have a problem with bubbles though. Maybe they've finally got the casting sorted, just in time for it to be retired lol

Nice paintjob. Not huge on the mini itself (and I despise Finecast) but you got on really well with it.

I'll echo the comments already, nice paint job on an average looking miniature.

Well, I think the figure is actually pretty nice, and you've done a bang-up job on it. He will fit your campaign perfectly!

It's funny, I really disliked the warriors of Dale box set, but I really like these. I think the Dale guys were just a little to ornate, these guys have less ornamentation.
I admit, at first, I was unsure about the sort of Russian/Eastern European look PJ used for Lake town, but I thought it looked great in the movie, including the uniforms of the guards.
