I like Force on Force for modern skirmishes as it plays out like a film with lots of action and reaction.
Has anybody used Force on Force for WW2?
Are there any easily available and generally agreed stats and squad lists for US, British, Germans, Russians and Japanese infantry?
Thanks
Mick

Just go ahead and use it. FoF is not a nuts and bolts game, as long as everyone is armed roughly the same there is no real need to adjust anything.
You might want to give American Garands and later German Sturmgewehrs a firepower advantage (as per rules).
Things might get messy with submachineguns, personally I would probably just ignore them unless the entire squad is so armed as might be the case with Russians.

If memory serves, Force on Force is a scenario based game, right? There should be sample TO&E's in the old rulebook which included WWII information, plus of course the scenarios themselves where you get your troops & random allocations etc. So using pretty much any small scale information would work, as the system uses no point system for armies (at least the vanilla version). I would suggest contacting someone on the Ambush Alley forums, I am sure they can advice you further?

Thank-you for the advice.
I was rather hoping that there would be a link to a thread or a pdf file to make it all easier.
I did try searching on Ambush Alley forums but with little scuuess.

Can't check at the moment but I'm convinced I have the original Force on Force suggestions for WW2 as a pdf. Let me know if you want it.

Anyone know if this is just still a WIP? I've been looking for a set of rules that can be used for small scale skirmish games of 20 a side at most that can be used for WW2 and Interwar games. I love polyhedral dice games so the idea of using FoF appeals even though ive still to play a game of it.

There is a Pacific war WW2 scenario in the Classified book.

Hey
Honestly, for me, FoF is designed for modern warfare encounters, where individual infantry squads are independent, highly mobile and able to deliver high firepower to the battlefield - especially if you consider benchmark for modern infantry - US army squad or similar army from highly developed modern world.
I am not export though, but think that during WW2 infantry tactics was bit different, i.e. weapons were not that compact nor multi-purpose (e.g. bolt action rifle and submachinegun) in comparison to modern gear and infantry squad was more reliant on their LMG section.
So you can of course tweak FoF rules to simulate WW2, but in my opinion better results could be obtained with other systems.
For WW2 skirmishes with around up to 16 figures per side I recommend Operation Squad. For platoon level WW2 battles Chain of Command will be good choice.

We used it in a VBCW game and it worked well for small scale skirmish (20-30 figures a side) and will probably use it again, though we didn't use any vehicles, just infantry to see how the rules coped.
