Title: Critique My first Threshold Team
Post by: Irishrover13 on 23 January 2014, 03:43:40 PM
Alright, next week I will be going to a FLG store called Imaginary Wars to play some Strange Aeons, I have never played before and I wanted some feedback on the first league I made. I am thinking I may just play the example list if this one is not viable for a beginner.

I am not really sure the tactics I will use beyond the basic Earl Grey providing cover well his wife and Mr. Thames fight in close. So please share your thoughts?

Looks good!

Personally I would buy down the Dex of the chap with the Bolt Action Rifle. The rifle already requires a 'ready' action to fire so his accurate skill will really only be useful with the .45 handgun..

Yea, the perk Lighting Reflexes I think is best to get or work towards for a Rifle shooter first....don't have my book in front of me but being able to not "ready" is a must.

+1 on that.

Oh and try to squeeze a tommygun in there  :D

The trick lies in building a list that is ready for a big monster or a larger cult force. that said, this list looks ready to go!

Alright so lower Earl Grey's Dex so he can get lightning fast if he lives long enough.

Though I am not completely set on the tommy Gun and may stick with the sword and shot guns. I have been reading AAR and I have noticed most Teams that lose are overwhelmed in close combat by lurkers I am hoping that with the two shotguns my team have will drive them back and allow my squishy humans to survive. Am I completely off tilter on this?

Also have a civilian in there for one BP, you can't alter the BP till you lose a threshold member.

Aye, there is real value in that that 1BP sacrificial Redshirt.

Most importantly; get the dice out and play a few games. Ideally you will have a few Threshold lists on the go, and you will get to play with countless Lurker combos as a result. So much fun broods on the horizon.

I value a good sword to be on your side when hand to hand could happen, shotguns are nice but a Tommy has their place also....

My usual starting group is:

Character: Meat Cleaver, Double Barreled Shotgun
Improved Command

Agent: Bolt Action Rifle
Dex Decrease 4+

Agent:
Ambush

Agent:
Ambush

Center the character within command of all  3 Agents. Rifle snipes as the enemy closes. Pistols use Ambush and pair up to fight hand to hand as needed. Character jumps in to help using the MC. Until then he cranks out shotgun shots with his actions.

Character: Meat Cleaver, Rifle
Improved Command

Agent: Bolt Action Rifle
Dex Decrease 4+

Agent: Extra .45
Two Fisted

Agent:
Ambush

Alternate setup, two rifles, hold back until the enemy gets close. Ambush takes the lead and the Two fisted hangs back to shoot. Could always give him a cleaver instead of a pistol for hand to hand.
