Title: Vietnam Buildings...
Post by: Gary Peach on 24 January 2014, 01:30:57 PM
Along with other bits these needed to be finished before I have to hoover over them...  Baker Company figures.

The roofs are made from shredded colour paper, spray primed brown and dry brushed.

Nice buildings taken to an excellent finish.
 :-* :-*

Where are they from, or are they scratchbuilds...?
Either way: Very nice!

Nice finish on the roof. Are these the ones available from Arcane Scenery?

Hi, Thanks.

Sarissa - They are on their new web site, .com not .co.uk.  Their Far East Range..  Also Arcane do them too.

I spent ages trying to think of a roof finish...  the shredded paper idea came when un packing some post.

Please can you post a link to these houses on their website as I cannot find them.

I can find two Sarissa websites but no Houses on stilts.
http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/
and
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sarissa-Precision/167264786744907

I have found them in the arcane scenery shop

Thanks

I love these buildings! I hope Sarissa do a few more to add some variety to the range. I got a few of the stilted ones and did a "hand-thatch" on the roof using sisal string:

Ooooh!
That one is lovely too.
 :-*

I can really see these working for me and my Spy-fi stuff.......
They may require a little bit of tarting up, but not too much.
You fellas are providing some great inspiration.

By the way, Bravo Six: Where are those civvies from...?

They look like they're from West Wind's Nam range Paul. I'm thinking about ordering these myself. They're not in the 25% off sale but as I might order some Gothic Horror stuff too it makes the postage more cost effective.

Cheers, Steve, I shall take a butchers at them (totally forget WW had a Nam range... ::)).

I am looking for more generic asian civvies to use with my Tong in Old West and VSF and to use as civvie types in the (planned) jungle spy-fi project.

Thanks guys!  :D

Elk is correct. Those are the West Wind civvies. I have a handful of them from a trade AGES ago, but am looking for a couple of more to round out my collection. If you want to wait Elk, I'm planning a purchase and you can utilize the figures I won't need.  ;)

Thanks! I'd be up for that as I'd like a decent amount of civilians. Are you UK based?

Aaaghh! I just ordered no more than 5 minutes ago! Damn my impatience. Tell me what you're after and I'll call them up tomorrow and try and add it on as I can't see anything happening on a Sunday It wasn't worth just ordering them on their own with the £4 flat rate postage so I got some harlots in the sale.

How about I split the civvies with you as it seems there will duplicates anyway?

And the postage, of course.

I'll pm you Paul.

No women eh, seems a bit limiting. Thanks for the info Bravo Six.

I have just received two of these which I bought via Warlord.

What glue did you use for assembly?
Title: Re: Vietnam Buildings...
Post by: Gary Peach on 22 March 2014, 06:25:54 PM
PVA - White wood / paper glue.  Use a few elastic bands to hold some parts together while it dries.

or

Super Glue...  for speed.

Paint the parts 1st too, it can be easier.  Dont panic about the type of paint either.  There is a PDF download on my website - www.marchattack.co.uk or via Sarissa.

Just a note that the figures are Baker Company.  Nice and good to paint too.

And they're extremely tiny. Even compared to the West Wind villagers which are pretty much 25mm.

Actual Vietnamese women aren't exactly amazons. Basing is the key but naturally YMMV.

Okay the guy in the bottom pic was probably called 'Too Tall' by his squad mates, but Vietnamese folk are 'petite'.  ;)
