Title: Scavenge Skirmish Survive figures
Post by: Snowdogs on 24 January 2014, 04:27:15 PM
I am dipping a toe into painting again after a good couple of years off, and while having a mooch around some of the forums for inspiration found the  Scavenge Skirmish Survive range from Mojo. A quick order and a few hours later the first five miniatures are done. Well almost done as the little girl turned out to be a bit on the ugly, side so I'm going to re-do her face when I get the chance.
Poor pictures I'm afraid, my photo skills need a brush up as well it seems..  :(

Thanks guys for the kind words. Yes, the bunny bag is cute  :D cant take credit for the idea though, it was just a quick and easier take on the Hello Kitty bag someone else did. I have another 6/7 can't remember... figures to do, but I can see me painting more in the future.... ;)

Thank you all, especially as you chaps are providing most of my inspiration  ;)

Quick question, have any of you used the SA80's or cross/compound bows from the Wargames Factory Zombie survivors sets in any conversions of these figures? I kind of want to try either adding the things to the Mojo figures, or winterizing the WF figures for SSS, any thoughts?

I have just added some new pictures of the next few figures, my photography skills are very much in need of a refresh but hopefully you get the idea.  :)

Humm, not sure why they are coming out squashed, but have a look here for the originals...

They are all very nicely done. The colours suit them well. I love the little kids backpack adds a nice little bright touch.

Hi Snowdog, I'm just fiddling with your photo settings to see if I can work out the problem with your images, so don't be troubled that it will read as edited by me  :)

Edit: Does that look better to you (you might need to reopen the browser)?

Basically the forum has an image sizing auto function and I suspect that you copied the img coding from one to the next, merely changing the file name.  Anyways, I merely edited out the height attribute in the image code and then saved the post, so that the height was auto reset in proportion to the relevant image.

I've added a M16/AR15 to my cop, and I put a WGF pistol in not-Ellie's right hand, although she's a LA mini.  But the WGF stuff works well with SSS stuff.

Ah thank you, I have no idea what you just said though  :?  ;)
Anyway, don't you have figures and stuff to do? ;) I am going to have to take some better pictures soon so I'll try just loading them without trying to be clever next time....

Thanks Too Bo, I will have to invest in a pack then, I can't think of anyone else who has modern bows and crossbows off the top of my head.  :)

To be honest, for delicate things like bows and crossbows, i prefer plastic over metal, it breaks less often...   The WGF set is very nice, and you can always add some winter gear to some of the minis! :)  Looking forward to seeing your results!

Cheers Mate!

Sorry but I can't resist!  :D

There's a bow and crossbow set in the store here

http://www.miniaturemojo.co.uk/products/34/167/weapon_sprue_ws-04_bows__blades/ (http://www.miniaturemojo.co.uk/products/34/167/weapon_sprue_ws-04_bows__blades/)

Though the point TBC makes about fragility is a good one - the crossbow is robust enough but the bow is more likely to bend (depending on how fitted).

I've beefed up the bow for the survivor mini that I have due for moulding in the next few days.

Cheers, I have the set from MOJO and it's a very nice set of kit.  Well worth the very reasonable cost.

So after a near disaster with the varnish on this fella, he is ready to take the stage with the others...or at least he would be if they were not living in America now.  :)

The two newest figures, same crap photography though  ;)
Number one has had a weapon mod, gone is the rounders bat and he now has the much more suitable and de rigueur preppers friend, the cold steel Spetnaz shovel.
