Title: The Gunfight NOT at the OK Corral
Post by: NickNascati on 25 January 2014, 08:40:02 PM
All,
Question out of curiousity.  A friend of mine is something of an expert on the gunfight.  He has been sending me a lot of reading material concerning theories and facts.  It seems to me that one could easily replay the incident dozens of times based on the conflicting information, and have no two games turn out quite the same.  Have any of you done multiple replays of the gunfight?

Nope, never tried it.  From a gaming perspective it's a bit too close-range and minute for my interest.  I think it might work with something a bit more complex like Gutshot, but in most games it'd just be 7-8 guys blasting each other at 4-6" distance...which would be over in about one turn.  lol

I think it'd be fun to create a small elaborate set of rules for just that scenario though... :D  Perhaps players concealing their anxiety levels, and secretly rolling to see who breaks first etc.  Lots of potential there.

The OK Corral?   8)

Or the concealing anxiety, waiting to see who would break first part?  lol

Gracias,

Glenn

Is 'both' a fair answer in this case? :P

The 'corral' was all walled in and they hit you up for $10.00 for the show, which was quite enjoyable.  Tombstone definitely has that 'cowboy town' air to it.  If you do plan a trip there, Bisbee is within about 30 -45 minutes and is quite a nice copper town.

I ran it at a con a few years ago. We played the fight twice in about three hours, and they were both much more bloody than in real life. I used the Desperadoes rules for the games, and both times the Earps won but with just one or two men left alive. If I remember correctly Doc Holliday was left alive and wounded in one game, and Wyatt and Virgil were left alive in the other. Doc's shotgun was the deciding factor in both games.

Up close shotguns trump most everyone...  lol

Gracias,

Heavy weapons, snipers, shotguns, leaders, then the grunts...
