After almost a year The Lazy Forgets trebuchet is being constructed. I cleaned and washed the resin then carved the unmoulded side long ago. The resin detail is superb with even little chains, but is quite brittle prone to snapping if manhandled and has some warps in the pieces. This can be fixed with bending in hot water and cooling in cold water, but the warp will still remain.
One base was quite bent, but bending and supergluing to a 3mm MDF base has appeared to correct that thankfully. I was worried it would warp the mdf.
The build is quite tricky, with gluing to flat sides, so I have drilled and pinned the rig together with a coathanger wire. This also means the trebuchet can swing, a nice feature. Though the arms and counter weight are a little too long to provide a full motion. It looks terrific as a static model, jacks stuff is superbly detailed as expected.

Now to do a little more green stuff, then undercoat.

Those look like they'll paint up very well!
-
Thanks Fram, it will indeed, the undercoat looks amazing! Jack is skilled with detail, I will confirm that ;)
-
Looks fantastic! Can't wait to see it painted up.

They were a joy to paint!!! Very easy to make them look good. As my first resin models, it was a bit tricky to construct, but the detail of his casts were superb. I ended up gluing the model firmly together, to keep them more stable, and to reduce damage caused in transit/handling. Possibly a wise move.

Nice....
I can only say:
Fetchez la vache!
:D
-
Thanks, but my free hand extends only to large geometric patterns, so that's what I do. Haha. I like to paint on canvas, but blending with a paintbrush on a curved miniature is another thing entirely.

Cheers fellas, this place has given me quite a few pointers over the time I've been here. Which I can certainly see when I compare my new western figures with my 'old' men at arms, and my archaic bowmen. The basing certainly comes from you guys, no nature or rocks stuck on mine, just pleasant and cheerful flowery fields :D

Wow! You did a splendid job on the trebuchets! And - guess what? - i'm still casting them, almost everyday!!
But soon i'll sculpt a new one for Resina Planet, and i'll be done casting trebs! ;)
Again, great work!!!
-
Thanks Jack, glad that the artist is pleased with my efforts :D
You are still casting? Wow! 0_0 at that rate every bretonnian army across the globe must have at least one of your beauties. Especially now the GW ones are OOP. Plus yours a're better and much cheaper.
Cheers

Heh, in the last months i've sold around two dozens of them! I'm getting sick of casting, but as long as people ask... why not? :D
