Title: Vapnartak Wallet Attack Report! Full of Piccies!
Post by: Atheling on 04 February 2014, 02:39:51 PM
Hi all,

It's been a long time since I graced the odiferous halls of a wargames show so it was a complete pleasure to be at Vapnartak on Sunday gone. There is an extensive report and a great deal of pics on my blog:

You can read all about my adventure and other exploits here on my Just Add Water Blog:

In order to whet the appetite one feels a few pics as a taster are needed:

Great report Darrell, now I know what you spent your pennies on ;D lol

Well, it was one or the other and my passions were moved much more by the Late Med. stuff then the Empress NZ Wars, as is to be expected from someone as obsessive about that period as me!  lol

The Flagstaff Wars are not forgotten about. In fact I've been salivating over the Empress range for some time today during my coffee breaks  :P :). It could be a great way to get back into putting on demo's as i/ it's an unusual theatre of war ii/both sides we employed very different tactics which I like, the terrain would be a real challenge and iii/ it would be a real joy to paint up the miniatures. Imagine all those tatoos! It might even be a good idea to buy a book about Maori tats and to try to simulate some of their meaning on the models. i'm not at all certain if this would be possible but it's got to be worth a go!

Darrell.

Aye Darrel, I first dabbled about 6 or so years ago with the Old glory stuff, figures were dire, I gave up after painting about 20 of their Maoris and flogged them off. No change of doing tattoo on those.  I am looking for a pen to use as I think it will be quite difficult to represent, perhaps the £arse" tattoos may be possible but for facial tattoo the trick I guess is to avoid making it look like a blob of paint.

I cannot stop looking either ;D lol I have 30 plus Maori but not got the oppositiion and want to order them now :)

I am thinking maybe 3 10 man sections of Regulars (copying Arteis here) plus command

1 12 figue RN landing party

and toying with a 12 man unit of Milita, only 4 packs but may supplement with Perry command form Carlist war.

I have also been thinking about other carlist figures or 1st corps.

There is no doubt that they will be very difficult to paint but if I'm going to do a demo game I simply have to give it away.

I can feel the power of the Wargaming Flutterby working it's terribel magic upon you now!

The Perry Carlist mini's are beautiful.... one day i will. I've been exercising extreme control and caution over what i buy nowadays as i have to be able to paint it to justify the buy! I knw! It's madness  lol lol

I have some pretty cool pics of Face tatoos that seem to have been simplified. If you want me to send them to you, please drop me a PM.
