Title: Wissmanntruppe 47mm Field Guns
Post by: grotuz on 06 February 2014, 05:35:48 PM
In Chris Peers' Armies of the 19th Century: East Africa  book on page 173 he talks about the Wissmanntruppe having a dozen 47mm field guns.

I am looking for more info on these guns and to see if anyone out there makes them as I can't find anything.

If you have one of these painted up a picture would be great.

Thanks!

I have checked many scources, and they did not have more than maybe 3x47mm qfr6pdr),guns in the colony, now they had about 15-19 37mmguns,from revolving cannons to qfr guns. Now Wissman had two47mm qfr guns.I have a picture in the german kamerun site here in the forum of the 37mm qfr, which you would probabvly have to use a mtn., gun model,The virtual armchair general makes a naval mount 47mm qfr gun (Houston guns),but you would have to put in on a gun carriage.you could also check w/chris dale owner of the German colonial uniform web site,he is very knowledgeable. I'll keep searching

Hello
I had the same interest/need to equip my Germas (but also French and Portuguese) with the same artillery piece. The owner of Virtual Armachair General..very kindly..offered me to sell me the above mentioned 47mm naval gun mounted on a wheel carriage for just a negligeable over price..i'll certainly buy one

Italwars - I was actually thinking of doing that exact same thing with TVAG.
