Can anyone recommend places to get some nice 1/43rd scale vehicles (cars, trucks, busses anything really), everywhere I see charges £20-30 which seems rather high
Any suggestions?

Hi
I get mine from here

Unfortunately being overseas would make the postage negate the saving, plus import

Poundland and Poundstretcher often have a decent range of toy cars about that scale.
You could have a look in ToysRUs too - their own "Fast Lane" range has stuff that claims to be 1/50-ish, which may be close enough.
Ebay has loads, but be prepared to dig for more information. Some of the cheaper stuff isn't necessarily the scale it claims to be.

The different pound stores near me are absolutely junk, your lucky to see any toys other than bags of soldiers
And I don't think there is a ToysRus anywhere near me now, it closed down very quickly, even another big toy store has mostly all this Ben10 junk and blumin minecraft toys for sad people.
And eBay I tend to use as a very final resort as I personally find it filled with...rear end holes

Poundland.
I have seen some European cars and trucks for sale for just £1 each. The range is only available in some Poundland Stores, Peugout, Fiat, some Russian trucks etc. Most if not all from the 1950/1960's era.
I think they were magazine give-away models, attached to blue or black card backing and in clear plastic blisters.

SORRY - just seen that someone else has recommended Poundland (I should have read the whole thread!)

Scarborough Poundland has the Russian die-casts too.
The only other cheap option is charity shops/jumble sales, or car boot sales when (if) the weather picks up.
What part of the country are you in?

Pound and discount shops. Stock varies from week to week and shop to shop. I usually have a plastic mini in my coat pocket to check against the scale.
Even the rubbish ones that don't quite fit can be turned into wrecks. For a few pounds it's worth a chance.

I spotted a perfect set in Smyths, a digger, dump truck and transit, the transit will be perfect for my Section 6 arm suit transport, the rest is terrain

You sometimes find vehicles in "The Works" bookstores.
Otherwise large supermarkets usually have some, although more often small scale Matchbox style cars.
Also keep an eye on magazine shops - there are loads of magazines that come out with models etc on the cover.

here tobacconists sell those 28mm scale cars for about 5 quid each. They import container loads from china and farm them out to the indie tobacco stores.

If the weather ever gets better then try carboots , most of the outdoor ones seem to start up around Easter. I've managed to find some great toy vehicles for my 28mm zombie/modern games. I went about twice a month from May until September and found loads of goodies for gaming as well as a pile of dvds i was after.
