Title: 28mm Bruce Lee?
Post by: FramFramson on 16 February 2014, 09:36:50 PM
Looking for an Enter-the-Dragon style Bruce Lee (from the beginning of the movie where he's wearing a tunic, not topless and slashed-up from the final fight scenes... though I guess I could sculpt a tunic on).

Examples:

There's a Hasslefree mini that might do (Tanshiro), but I'm trying to look at other options.

The only other figure I can think of is the Chan Li Martial Arts Master by Reaper, which you would have to sculpt the tunic on. (He's also larger than 28mm: 30mm to the eyes and 32mm to the top of the head): http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/50190

How about Tanshiro, from Hasslefree?:

(I only tease because I did the exact same thing, but caught myself just in time!)  ::)

I can only think of the hasslefree ones, maybe golgo island actually although the one I'm thinking of is shirtless but if you don't mind GS. They are available from hasslefree as well I think, might not have any of that correct though lol

The Golgo Island ones are actually the same minis - Kev White did them, including the not-Van Damme/Double Dragons, the not-Bolo-Yueng, etc.

You can actually order them on either site.  :)

Quite a bit smaller than the HF martial artists though. Close enough for me, but enough to upset anal scale folks...

Problem with the HF martial artist is the stance. For Sifu Lee you'd be looking for a right leg favoured stance, a mixture of a western boxing and fencing, 70-30 weight shift, light and on the toes.

Ive studied jun fan wing chun and Jeet Kune do since '98 so I'm always on the lookout for an accurate practitioner figure rather than the approximations or karate or judo poses that kust dont cut it in my book.

Well, what I wanted to do with the figure is actually do a conversion, arming him with a pistol to be more of a conventional adventurer figure. But you're still dead-on right!

The really extreme martial arts poses don't work for that, which is why a proper Bruce Lee pose would work and also why something like Hasslefree's Tanshiro isn't that great for my purposes.

I'm actually surprised a figure like that's never really been made.

Reaper have a faux lee but reaper are a little oversized at times so Bruce will probably ve six foot six!

The proportions and pose on that mini are so hilariously wrong. I'd be quite happy to use the HF one before I grabbed the Reaper model.

The thing that bugs me is that I'm sure someone somewhere must have some decent figures in basic asian tunics, maybe in a modern or even fantasy line (so maybe I could do headswaps or something to get the young east asian hero I need), but I just don't know who.
