This year I'm hoping to get in some sci-fi skirmish games using the pulp alley rules. Got a big pile of lead building up so have begun working my way through the figs! First to be finished are a couple of rogue trader Orks!

Lovely.
I have recently been using my RT era figures in a number of different rule sets and Pulp Alley is on my list. Im interested in seeing how it works out.
And seeing some more beautifully painted old stuff :)
-
Considering how old those minis are and how little variation there is in the poses they're still great figures. Obviously a paint job like that helps enormously. Great.
-
Brilliant job. I love seeing these old school orks getting the love they deserve. The Teal helmet is especially nice. More please!
-
Brilliant! I have about 20 or so of these I have just based up and are ready for priming.
I really like the skin tone you have achieved. I will be going for the same bright saturated green myself; old school Mike McVey Eavy Metal style!
-
Yeah I went for that really bright green skin colour from the old RT pics! Have about 10 more raiders and 4 characters which should be well enough for an Ork league in PA.
-
lovely painting on them. really do love the RT era models, less cluttered than todays tat they sell.
-
They look great 8) 8)
The bases are a bit different. Are they going to stay or are they just for painting the figures on?
cheers
James

Thanks for the comments! Will be leaving them on those 2mm mdf bases. My current basing policy is to put minis on the smallest possible square base so most figures are ending up on 15 or 20mm squares. I'll be gluing sand and cat litter to the bases (left unpainted) to finish them off.
Couple more figures here. Had these knocking around for probably 20+ years... finally got round to painting them! In my game the Jerry Cornelius figure will be a pretty notorious villian Julian Starflower. The Gronk is a just great looking critter!

Beautiful work! :-* :-*

Brilliant - love the orks in particular :o 8) 8) 8)

Great choice of figures, blackstone, and lovely paintwork too. Looking forward to see more on that thread.
-
Really love the orks. I'm so jealous over your Jerry Cornelius and Gronk figures. Such great miniatures, and you've done them proud.
I quit commenting on people's basing choices when I realized how often I've changed my base preference. I have some WEG Star Wars Stormtroopers that are standing on their fourth or fifth base right now.
-
Lovely clean paint jobs.

Thanks for the comments. Here's a Power armour type figure from Black hat. Nice figure to paint!

Nice work :)

Looks good 8)

Love the colors you chose. Very classic Sci-Fi magazine cover, which is always a good look.
-
These are all great. Do you intend to use Pulp Alley as is or are there any mods?

From reading the rules through I think they'd would work great as they are. The abilities assigned to models may just need a thematic name change "eagle-eyed" = "targeter" or "rugged" = "powerarmour" etc. It's pretty good fun working things like that out.
Can't wait to give it a whirl. :)

If you have the Perilous Island expansion for Pulp Alley, another really good ability for power armor is "Big".
HAVE FUN
-
Yes have the expansion. "Big" would work great :)

Orks, sporks...
This is what I clicked on the thread to see. So that is what they look like when painted up... Niiice!
Is the rougher appearance of the visor intentional, an anomaly of the lighting, or just something you only see when the camera is showing the figure zoomed in and not visible to the naked eye?
Gracias,
Glenn
-
The visor has been drybrushed with metallics which probably shows up any irregularities in the photo. To the eye it looks fine. Once the figure is finished and matt varnished I'll give the visor a gloss coat. Hopefully a decent visor effect. Very nice mini really. The other figure in the pack has more ornate armour which will be interesting to paint.
Next up is a converted Ork warlord and a space hobbit sniper!
cheers

Thanks, I will keep that in mind when I paint visors (then photograph them) in the future.

When I started this project I had a solitary ork raider. Looking through the lead pile I discovered a bandy legged old WHFB orc which had "potential". Some snipping and putty work later my Ork pirate warlord. Got himself a wicked powerfist/flamer combo!!

Putting the horns of the helmet was pure Xaxus ;)

Did a bit more work on the powerarmour. Finished now I think

Next up a cool little hobbit sniper!

Bloody fantastic!

Beautiful work! :-* :-*

Not much progress with the painting but lots of prepping of minis going on. I've been painting these figs in batches of seven and all I need to do is finish a hobbit sniper and the first 7 are done. Next lot of based, primed and ready to go. Should make some progress this weekend.
I have alot of RT space marines in the pipeline but won't be sticking to any single "chapter" colour. I want the marines in my game to be like ronin and their armour colours are down to personal taste with family colours/heraldry displayed on the right shoulder pad. Little bit of putty work on these pads to give an idea of what I'm aiming for.

Really neat idea. I'm looking forward to seeing the variety in the finished marines. I have a warm place in my heart for old beakies. Thanks for sharing.
-
I look forward to seeing them progress; great idea.
-
Fantastic stuff, I love the power armor guy
-
Those orks are great, really clean paintjobs. I'm going to have to use some teal now :) good job on the sculpting, the powerfist/flamer fits the RT look perfectly!
-
Project has stalled somewhat but making some progress again. Aquired some old plastic genestealers off ebay and set about converting one into a broodlord. Not too sure about the 40k fluff on these but reckon he's just a bigger badder version of the normal genestealers.

Triple nice! (Oh and thanks for the decals).

No probs! :) Managed to get the arms in place today. Just some filling of gaps now.

Yes, I like that 8)
What's the sculpting material?

Excited to see this done! Very cool!

Nice!

Fine work! :-*

Been about 20 years since I painted one of these! New style of bases which I'm changing the other figures over to.

I am a bit surprised, but I like it!
-
Might have to "borrow" the fashion statement for one of my Slannesh renegades, or maybe noise marines. ;)
-
Why, he looks just FABulous!
-
Haha yes he does rather! The original Brother Quiff mini had pretty big hair however I did bouffant it up a bit with a little green stuff. ;)
More re-basing of the other minis:

Here's the start of an Eldar warband. Thanks to Just john for the minis!
