At eighty five quid, if I was dusting off my IG it would be because I was taking pictures before I put them on ebay!
-
Oh, good argument, I needed that. The Guardsmen can continue to collect dust, poor half-painted bastards. *sigh*
-
It makes me want to dust off my guardsmen, and I don't have any guardsmen. And yeah, then I think the dust can stay on my wallet a while longer.
(say, I wonder if you could dump a few cathedral spires and guns on it's back?)
-
If you go to Wayland Games, it'll be about £65.00 or so.
-
Very nice kit it seems. I already have an Epic knight army so I dont need it though. lol

Don't need it? Run that concept by me again...
-
GW continues to further the idea that bigger is better.
So, in that vein, I must get a B-52 for my Vietnam games....... 8)
-
What, you don't have one? For shame!

:'(
But I do have a Lancaster and B-17 for FOW! :D

I do recall a very nice scene in Apocalipse Now, when way way up stream in the jungle they come around a bend and sticking out of the river is the enormous rear end of a B-52. Always wanted to do that for a display game, but could not justify the expense or find the storage room.

Brilliant! :D

That gawdy blue thing with a sword is $130+!?
I hope I'm thinking of the wrong model! lol
-
Preordered one last night. From a online source at 25% off of course.Comes out to $112 US
-
Well I like these a lot, I will get at least one for the warm feeling of nostalgia.

those were the days...
-
I rather like it. The price is a bit steep. If i stumble across a cheap(er) one on a weak day I might buy one. I don't really have a use for it though.
I think I will go and paint my epic knights to control my buying urges..
-
I succumbed and spent a mighty £63.49 ordering one (incl p&p) which I figure is a good deal versus the RRP of £80!
They make me all warm and fuzzy, I miss my knight household...
-
Apologies make that £85, gee it's a nice model but that's a bit nuts.
-
Never mind, you can spend the money saved on the £9.99 iBook painting guide! o_o
-
Who wants to club together and make a knight painting guide, we can launch it on Kickstarter for the low price of £8.99 each!
-
The Iron Brotherhood collection contains: 5 Imperial Knights. We will also send you, completely free of charge, 5 fantastic art prints. Each print features the stunning heraldry of 5 different Knight Suits - perfect inspiration for your new hobby project! Price: $775.00
Who the hell is their target audience now?
-
So $170 in Canada and $810 for the set of five Knights. They also have a three knight Imperial Knight Household Spearhead for a bargain price of $510. ???
-
£425 in the UK for the five, with a discount of nothing? What sort of deal is that? >:D
-
Old hat at this point, sadly. :?

It IS perfect for any project that goes by the name of 'dont pay rent and live in a cardboard box with 5 toy soldiers' or 'need a divorce fast' or even 'my insanity defence'
For that price I suspect the boxes they come in could be turned into temporary housing whilst you save up the cash for a rental deposit again. lol
The big problem with online retailers is that the discount they can give is always eaten up by the postage costs. It always baffles me with GW stuff especially - how much are you actually saving by the time you take postage into account when you could just go to your local store and order in what you need / buy it off the shelf for near enough the same price.
Stuff like dreamforge is very different as there are very few stores that stock it - having said that I got my Leviathan posted to me very reasonably from Northstar. :D
-
Too late, GW. You cannot price gouge with so many awesome alternatives for us.
These are the only Imperial Knights I can be bothered with:

Never been my experience. Especially with GW figs. If you ordered from within the US the shipping costs are negligible. Even ordering from the UK to Canada was routinely cheaper than the postage costs.

Dear all,
may I remind everyone involved that price discussions etc. are supposed to go into The LAF Games Workshop Discussion Thread (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=57122.0). Unless you have pics of painted knights to show or have a productive discussion on valid uses of the model (personally, I like it and will eventually get one to support my post-Heresy Marines), I'd like to ask you to continue this discussion over there.
-
Phew, I'll revamp my prior statement from page 1. When I googled "Imperial Knight" this was the only GW image that popped up for some reason:
I immediately though "what the heck is that? That's not a knight! How can that be worth $____!?" lol
Then I found pictures of the real thing. Nice kit and surprisingly looks quite similar to the original knights (though a bit small by the old epic scale). How does it scale to a Dreamforge Leviathan?

PS: Whatever this is (scratchbuilt, forgeworld etc.) it's quite nice too!
-
I understand that the Dreamforge leviathan is about half an inch taller (just lovely kits although the pistons are an arse)
-
PS: Someone please paint one up in the old Epic style paintjobs/images:
Chevrons, bright colours and flags...lots of flags. :)
PS: Sounds good...also sounds like some kit-bashing might be available. Using that "evil dream forge" one (the weird one with claws and a scythe?) you could maybe work on making a suitable Chaos version of the Knight (though I imagine one adorned in 1,200 skulls and blood is coming out sometime soon).
-
I like it, but then again I love adeptus titanicus and space marine 1st editions so bound to. Looks really in keeping with thr old epic flavour. Although timing: can't help but think that this is due to the hugely successful dreamforge ks and their amazing mechs, people already using them as proxy knights. Seen some nice pjs.
-
Who the hell is their target audience now?
Me :D
-
Between the Dream Forge kits and these, I wonder when we'll see a football stadium sized game of Epic at 40K scale? "Nonsense, your beam cannon can only shoot 50 yards, I'm at 52 yards!"
-

:D I never did anything with the handful of epic knights I have, but I intended to paint them up in the heraldic colors from a few different branches of the family. (Are red roosters showy enough for you?) This new model brought a little bit of that back.
-
I think I'm going to make a scaffolding type tower out of old necromunda bulkheads I have and magnetize a arm or outer shield, maybe the faceplate, so you can see the inside. Make it look like its broke down or getting worked on.Then use it as terrain/objective.Have a scenario that the Imperium have found a old knight and are trying to get it running and others are trying to get it.
Once in a while we play on 16 or 24 foot boards at the club so it may see some real action too. :D

One of the shops I used to visit occasionally in my youth used to run big "stop the mega gargant" games in 2nd edition. Basically heaps of tanks, lascannon crews, anything anyone could bring trying to stop an Ork mega-gargant as it pushed across a 12-16' table super slowly. I never partook, but it looks amusing.
-
Personally I like it. It is the first Games Workshop kit I have been interested in in a long time (though I do like the updated tactical marines box but I have not bought any). The last kit I was really interested in were the Grey Knight Terminators from, I think, 2004!
I will get at least one, possibly two. I would make the second up into a proper Knight Errant by arming it with the Dreamforge Leviathan Power Fist as the Epic version always power fists, whereas only the Paladin had the chainsword.
As to use, it is a bit useless. I personally find Apocaplypse fairly silly, and 6th edition itself holds little appeal; I only really play 2nd edition these days. That being said, 2nd edition went very well with home brew rules for Titans and all sorts of other ridiculousness... So it will somehow support my old school Ultramarines...

This sort of thing!
And yes, it will be painted very brightly in the true 90s Eavy Metal Style...

In the old shop I used to play at(back during 2nd edition days) about 3 times a year we used to push the racks back against the walls after hours and play "floor wars". It was all vehicles,no points, and lots of fun.
I remember there being at least one gargant, a couple warhounds, my IG superheavy tanks and four Eldar scout titans. They were the old armorcast, as it was before the forgeworld days, and armorcast had a datafax sheet for them.
If you can get your hands on that it gives a pretty good start to homebrew rules for the new knight.

I had heard that Armorcast did a datafax for the knight (and other models). No doubt it will crop up sooner or later, but yes I would very much like a copy!
And those "floor wars" sound excellent! 8)

Me too. Just gonna have to wait for the "want" urge to subside or move onto something else.
-
I want it too. I'm just mad I'm not a trust fund baby. :'(

I will say one thing about this new GW Knight kit:
It has got me to look at the Dreamforge Leviathon with new eyes.
I see that being converted into a 'proper' old skool Knight.
:D
-
Yeah I was looking at the Dream Forge kits and started assembling a reasonable "Knight" in my head. I didn't realize you could get the Leviathan for $75 straight from DF...that's awfully cheap by comparison (though buying additional arms bits is gonna cost ya!).
I like the Mortis' unarmoured legs...Leviathan torso...Mauler for the left arm, beam cannon for the right...and then replace the Leviathan's head with something more...robotic looking.
-
Oh wow, it's got it's own Codex too. Talk about over the top...
