Title: Starting a Hell Fire Club
Post by: Stepman3 on 22 February 2014, 02:49:47 PM
I gotta stop... I've yet to play but am in the midst of making another force. This time it's the Hell Fire Club. I've made this order from Reaper Miniatures...
 03312: Townsfolk: Cultists and Victim $15.99 x1
 60136: Aglanda, Herald of Razmir $7.49 x1
 60070: Velmarius Elazarin $6.49 x3
 03470: Khalatine, Evil Cultist $7.99 x1
 50012: Jack the Ripper $6.49 x1
 59032: Old Pete $6.79 x2
 59029: Baron Simone LaCroix $5.99 x1
03336: Children of the Zodiac: Cancer $6.99 x1
 03341: Alura, Succubus Temptress $6.99 x1
 02254: Alura, Succubus $5.49 x1
 02254: Alura, Succubus $5.49 x1
03360: Children of the Zodiac: Libra $6.99 x1

My Plan is to clip the wings of the Succubie and they will be the slaves, Old Pete wil be the clubs enforcer while Jack the Ripper will be a member of the club but also a liability, he's drawing to much attention to the club (need rule to convey this, any ideas?) The Baron will be the clubs leader...Lots of nekkid ( o )( o )'s

Don't worry - it happens.  Sometimes people just say "huh. cool"  and move on.  I think it will be a fascinating crew if painted correctly.

It's Saturday mate, give people a chance  :D

I'd be interested to see pictures of the figures you are buying...

Given the figures, I take it that their primary attack will be via mystic powers?  None of those figures appear armed (many of then aren't even clothed !).

A lot of the weapons will be implied and a few converted on...maybe small "chits" to represent the guns?

Here's a composite of all the minis listed except the final one, Libra.

Great idea, Stepman.

How do you propose drawing in <ahem> new flesh?

Fabulous figures. I might co-opt a few.

Excellent choice of figures  :o.

The Hellfire Club was designed to be a difficult list to play as it really does rely on the right choice of mystical powers for the mission. Make the right choice and you can devastate your enemy. They key though is to remember the scenario objective.

@stepman3: Glad to! I was still at work, so it was easy to whip together.

Eureka Miniatures also has a small range of robed and hooded Cultists which could be enlisted into service (quite versatile, I bought the chap with the book to do service as a monk with my 16th century figures):

Stepman3: Thanks for posting the figures. I had not seen Old Pete--what a great figure! I had forgotten all about the Hellfire Club: it would be the perfect opponent for my Temple of Isis!
http://wrgmr.com/templeisis.pdf

The Reaper minis are great choices. When choosing figures for the Temple of Isis, I went for the cowled-robe look as the members of the cult were otherwise respectable personages and wanted their identities secret. I used Reaper's Aglanda for the character of Maud Gonne in my Company (which is based on the Golden Dawn Cult).

Eisenfaust: Thanks for posting the photos. here's Libra:

If you are out there looking for robed cultists, for whatever reason, here is what I found in my searches for the Temple of Isis:

Pulp Figures has various robed cultists:

Unarmed [If female slaves displaying their (o)(o)'s would offend certain persons in your household or gaming club, these babes may be acceptable]

Armed

Armed with gasmaks

Robed cultists from Strange Eons at Uncle Mike's Worldwide

More robed cultists from Artizan Designs (Thrilling Tales)

I would recommend to anyone contemplating the Hellfire Club to check out Dark Sword Miniatures as well. Beautiful if expensive. In the States you can get them at slight discount plus cheap shipping at Noble Knight Games. I chose the figure Early Snow - Female Witch for Florence Farr, the leader of Temple of Isis.

OMG, as the young people say. How many hours did I spend looking for cultist figures and never stumbled across these? I'll have to find some excuse to use these guys....

Crooked Dice is not a Victorian SF site, but there are useful things besides the cultists.

How about statues that come alive, able to "use their sculpted claws to terrible effect on anything living they encounter.'

And then there are 45mm tall "Argonaughts," bronze animated robots with electronic brains controlled by Dr. Ulysses Argo?

Kali cultists wielding poisoned blades and dark magic.

Corn dolls? Bullets go right through them as they are "implacably advancing to menace and eliminate those they encounter." How about a little fire, scarecrow?

Thanks for the heads up, EndTransmission. There's a bit of stuff here for those mad scientists among us.

Still only available as a 'resin master', and hopefully of suitable size since not mentioned as 40mm, but the last Kev White for Hasslefree, Lenore (http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=resin-master-%252d-lenore~hfmaster-h087&category=miniatures~*new-toys*):
strikes me as very versatile, from the intended medieval sorceress to a sci-fi princess and, relevant here, a cult leader / high priestess in ceremonial garb.

( :-* but I confess to have another vision of 'the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqNx_0qGjpg)'  :o)

To me, Lenore is also very not-Raven from the Teen Titans.

Glad that helped. The Talos mode is also a nice one as it's larger version of the Argonauts
(http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Argo-and-Talos-300x295.jpg).

The Talos and Argonaut models work well when painted up as animated statues (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=56310.msg668989#msg668989) too, which could be fun for a golem style mission or two.
