I have recently finished these new bamboo pieces using plastic bamboo plants I received from a mate. I really like these pieces and they were quite fast to make, I think around 2 hours excluding drying times. My bamboo forest is steadily growing now starting to think about adding an ancient temple ... I'm also still accepting terrain commissions so if you're interested in some custom terrain, please contact me for a quote for your project!

Looking good. These are nice bits of terrain.

I agree.....
Looking good.

I also agree! Looking good! :)

But Belgian...i'd say.....finding bamboo in enough quantities and correct scale is pretty difficult. So where did you get yours. Is it aquarium deco stuff and what brand?
-
Hi, Thanks for the nice comments regarding the source I can't specify it as I received these bamboo plants from a mate and he doesn't remember the source. But I might ask it again when I meet him again. ;)

It could be deco but usually that variety is in the wrong scale. Sometimes you see them in webshops but always they are out of stock. It seems the quantities are never enough or the whole world is hoarding plastic scale bamboo. 8)

Looking fab! :-*
I certainly would be interested in the source of those plastic bamboos, too!

Sure - I do have a handful I bought from a French vendor, and I also have about 500 JTT corn/maize-stalks to plant, and no imminent plans of making terrain - I just like to list the possible sources. ;)
-
No need to worry, I will share it in this thread when my mate remembers the source ;)

That are the same bamboo pieces as the ones I have used but mine seem to come in three different sizes. Source located thanks Cubs!

I put 'Scale Scenery Bamboo' into the eBay search engine and it came up with various scales, so that's probably where you can get your size differences.

I ordered some from one of the Chinese eBay vendors a week or so ago so I'll see what happens!

Please do keep us informed, because the feedback I saw was okay, and if it's a reliable service that is damn cheap for a whole forest full of bamboo.
-
Just asked my mate and showed him the source and he confirms that this was the seller. He also said that the delivery time was around 1,5 weeks to Belgium so very fast in fact, I see more bamboo forests in the future ;)
-
That's the same stuff that I use (in different sizes etc) but I payed way more for it!
Looks like I'll be getting some more for my tables ;)
-
Nice find :) 3 packs ordered :) :) :)
-
I got myself on the evil bay and found several sellers who have the same product. I ordered 1 which according to the description should contain a 100 pieces. I will let you and post some pictures as the stuff comes in. Will take a while as this one is in China.

My Chinese eBay order arrived yesterday from ethersell. Ordered on 3rd March and delivered on 10th. Pretty impressive. It's nice stuff and sizes up we'll with my new Parkfield Vietnam figures!
-
Thanks guys, that's helped me make my mind up then.
-
Just a quick photo to show the eBay bamboo with a 28mm Force of Arms US figure (Vietnam).

Yup. That's the stuff alright. Mine arrived today and i really like it. Looks very good and with the 100 pieces ordered i can make some nice terrain.

Mine arrived about a week ago, nice product and they appear to gave a wire inside the stem?
-
Excellent :-*.
for lazy sods like me, could you please post a link to the building stage of the process?
Darrell.

Not sure that I understand which building stage you mean?

Oh, I thought there was a step by step somewhere? Maybe I'm mistaken?

Not of these pieces but some tutorials on making other bamboo and vegetation can be found on my blog here:
http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/p/scratchbuild-service.html (http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/p/scratchbuild-service.html)
But you can find the construction of similar bamboo pieces on this blog called 28mm Victorian Warfare:

Darrell.
think it comes down to:
step 1. Buy Bamboo from ebay
step 2. Base bamboo
step 3. use as scenery
;) ;D ;)

Thanks, I think I prefer the stuff on the Victorian Warfare blog, this is probably where I got the idea you had done a step by step somewhere from(?). :)
Darrell.
