Hi
A quick question . Is there an easy way to paint blood on a figure wearing a red jacket?
thanks
Dex

I would try the following
1. Use a darker shade for the jacket - e.g. slightly burgundy shade and a brighter shade for the blood.
2. Matt varnish on the jacket (or just original flat acrylic paint) and gloss varnish the blood.

Mick

How you paint it will depend on the original colour of the jacket and what kind of material it is supposed to look like. A bright red varsity jacket made out of heavy cloth will most likely show blood as darker red or even brown, while it will show up as bright shiny splotches on dark red leather.

This.
What sort of jacket is it?

British Napoleonic era jacket.

Tamiya clear-red might work for you. You can also mix it with paint (brown, green or black) to give the blood a more aged look. Plus the clear red has a glossy finish.

Definitely agree you want a darker colour than the jacket. Perhaps a crimson with just a touch of brown.
When you paint the jacket, dab some of the same paint on a bit of paper or card, so that you can try some experiments before painting directly on the figure.

This with a dot of black to make it look older and coagulated. Also the Tamiya can be let to air dry a bit before you put it on, it will develop a texture and this should also help differentiate it. but yes, blood on red cloth should look more brown than red.
