Hiya!
At DUZI, I found a kit which I had coveted for a decade, Grendelīs "Corvus VTOL". I never had found the time and cash to order one from Scotland, and this proved useful, since I got the kit for a mere 8 Euros at DUZI, whereas current list price is som 12,99 UK Pounds...
I painted it primarily for use with Stargrunt 2 platoon actions, but since the design is so close to the UD-4L "Cheyenne" gunship from the movie "Aliens" (this fact inspiring the paint scheme I chose), I may also use it for some "bug-hunting/one marine down, 9 to go" style games - I had already done a rather creepy alien this summer, so I thought I might show it to you guys as well.
First, the dropship. Itīs rather small and will only really work with true 25mm or smaller (Iīve got some modern US from Revell which might look good with it, but where to find Aliens in this scale?!?), so Iīll have to use it as a "futuristic Huey" rather than a "futuristic Chinook" that is the Cheyenne.

And the Alien. Being rather huge, it might become a queen-whatsoever if used with smaller miniatures.

The figure in the last pic is a Modern US trooper from Gripping Beast, for which I originally modelled the Alien (basic model is a GW Genestealer Patriarch).

very cool stuff, Chris!
-
Nice job, Chris! I like the shark mouth on the gunship, and the color green. There are a few Grendel kits God wants me to get at some point, too.
For smallish Xenomorphs, you might want to check out Reverisco. I'll have to dig up the exact link, but their xenomorphs are more like 20mm. They'll work out well.
-
20mm Xenomorphs! Yay! Do you mean the Starguard-Miniatures, and if so, which line? A name would suffice, since Iīve got the site bookmarked...
Edit: Would those be the "Homophages"? Those are pretty neat, indeed!
-
Yes, they're either in the Starguard minis, or they're called homophages. I think.
-
I see great minds are thinking alike this morning. You hadn't edited your post when I replied!
-
Then the dropship also goes very well along with Denizen's (much "Aliens" inspired) 25mm Mid-Tech troopers...
-
Oh my god, those Denizens are PERFECT! I HAVE to get a platoon of those, especially considering the prices, and they might even work with my existing GZG stuff! THANKS!!!
-
You're welcome... I think now we both know what to buy next!
-
Yes, especially since Cthulhu wants it!
-
Really nice!
I picked up one of those VTOL's off Ebay a while back, and haven't quite had the hankering to paint it up.
You've inspired me!
(thats not to say I will actually do it, but you have inspired me...) lol
-
Is it assembled already? If so, did you have to sand as much as I did, especially with the tail, or did I just go unlucky to get an older casting?
-
Nope, not assembled yet. I did a dry fit the other day, and it looks like I will have a LOT of sanding....so you needn't feel bad!
-
Please allow me to give advice: Use wet-sanding, for Gods sake. The Resin is rather inodorous, but the dust is horrible, even when wet-sanding - I shudder to think how it would be wen dry-sanding.

Cool minis!
Wizkids are producing official Aliens for their horrorclix game if you want to check them out

I sold a couple of 1:48 scale SMT Aliens kits a while back on Ebay.
One of those things you wish you hadn't done
Here's a couple of pics:

The Drop ship was nearly 2 foot long!

The APC fitted inside the drop Ship!
I sold mine still in kit form. These pictures used to be on SMT's website.
Unfortunately they don't make them anymore.
They come up for sale every so often on Ebay!

OH-MY-FRICKINī-DEITY-OF-CHOICE! :o :o :o
Awesome. Just awesome. But I bet they fetch prices to match.
