Title: New Tombstone releases from Black Scorpion??
Post by: NickNascati on March 27, 2014, 08:47:09 PM
All,
According to their website and Facebook Page, Black Scorpion is supposed to have new Tombstone sets out for Salute next month.  They indicated that previews would be up in March.  By my reckoning, March is just about up.  Anyone have some inside information?

Nope, but I wouldn't doubt they're seeing the big boom in Old West gaming and might set out another town watch set, or...(hopefully) some dismounted cavalry or something similarly cool.

So we get two relatively useless sets for Tombstone!  Yet another buxom, under-dressed cowgirl with a vulture, and 4 "Hillbillies"???  Too bad, I was really hoping for some good, new sets.  I guess I'll save my money.

Tbh....the third guy is something I've been looking for.

And those pirates are enough to get me working on my port!   Love the assassin....

Don't think I will waste my money on those figures, I was hoping for something more useful.

I have close to 100 Tombstone figures, and have steadfastly refused to buy any others. I think that BS is royally screwing loyal customers by not legitimately expanding the range!!

I can't really agree with that as the range is one of the largest Old West ranges available to gamers.  I do wish they'd replace some of the useless sets (and the hillbillies don't look too good) but considering it's BS's largest range...I can't complain.

Also, they don't produce but one game themselves (the fantastical version of pirates - Cutlass?) so they're just driven by whatever the market seems to want.  Is the Salute release boring?  Yep, but they still have something like 38 entries in their Tombstone range.  That's plenty.  I'd like to see them expand but I can't argue that they don't have a great selection.

Given that I've asked repeatedly for some "personality" figures, more mounted and Cavalry, yes, I think they are screwing their loyal customers, since their figures don't match up with any other ranges.

If you feel screwed, purchase some other ranges (Artizan, Foundry, DMH ...) ... there's so much options.

I'd probably prefer the bluemoon hillbillies, and grab a Model A ford 'hick' truck at the same time ;)

It would be nice to have some civ war types, generals, or train conductors. I certainly like the BS blacksmith and waiter. Their cowboys are really nice figures, the resin holds a lot of detail. (though most of em have the same head/moustache)

Cheers
Matt

Perhaps if they didn't have the overalls, and that second hillbilly wasn't part of the crew, they could then pass for goldminers or claim jumpers
