Yesterday we had our first go at the Battlegroup series of rules and here is the resulting AAR:

Enjoy,
Burkhard
P.S.: And here is the mandatory pre-view (as usual many more clickable photos on the blog itself):

Sorry Burkhard I cannot resist the last picture:
"Aaarghhh... Barbed Wire!"
lol
Also nice JS.
-
Thanks Arrigo... I guess barbed wire can ruin anyone's day... Or trousers! lol
-
Definitely trousers...
happened to a girl when we were doing surveys in southern Italy... it was quite embarassing... by the way, why in your blog you have * after each unit and vehicle? Also, while simple the table was definitely nice.

Well, I guess this would be embarrassing to anyone! ;)
The asterisks denote the units that were in reserve at the beginning of the game. Since there were quiet a few, this makes the text easier to read.

Was that a midget Hitler figure in one of the photos?
-
He is the leader for the Volkssturm unit. Not Hitler himself, but he is wearing the same mustache. I always imagined him to be one of those completely loyal and fanatic Bierkeller Nazis. So fanatic that he never had the guts to join the proper army, but joined the Allgemeine SS instead to escape the drafts. And now that it is all going down the drain and he finds himself leading a detachment of Volkssturm, promoted as a reward by some even more fanatic Nazi. He is probably all the time threatening to shoot the old men for a lack in faith in the Endsieg and most likely wetting his pants and leaving them to "get new orders" the moment the first bullets fly. ;)

Great AAR. Nicely done sir.
One of the great fun things about Battlegroup is the way random scenarios ask you to break up your 'group', and then work to get them on the table in an effective manner.

A great report and very nice pics.
-
Great report. Thank you for sharing. Loved the action photo of the troops dismounting the halftrack.
-
Great report!
That JS-II is really nice! :-*
Nice to see someone else doing Battlegroup in 28mm!
-
Thank you guys!
The dismounting Grenadiere seems to be a all round favourite!
@ Tomek: you are welcome. The rules are just great and since I already have such a large collection in 28mm there was no chance of me playing it smaller! ;)
