Title: Chuhuac (Space Raptor) 28mm Metals
Post by: Myrmidont on April 01, 2014, 03:08:52 PM
Greetings and Salutations from The Colony.
I figured I may as well make my first decent post a useful one - so here's a quick review of some loot, some pic spam, and apologies for the photography and bare metal/resin/restic/bonesium.

Loud Ninja Games ran a kickstarter in 2012 to fund a line of 15mm metal 'Space Raptors' aka Chuhuac, and dutifully added a 28mm option for those of us with poor eyesight and shaky hands. Since my squad finally made it way to me via transoceanic snail a few weeks ago, I figured I'd post up a review.

All six Chuhuac arrived in a single zip-lock bag. As you can see in the images below, only the Pack Alpha was cast in a single piece, the rest with heads separate. It was with some trial and error that I determined which heads fitted which bodies the best, and I'm still likely to file down the necks a touch before pinning & attaching the heads. Each head has a monocle on the left, and the squad consists of an Alpha, a Squad Support Weapon, and four standard infantry. All are armed with the same energy weapon except for the SSW, which is a heavier of same, with cables to the power packs.

Heads attached by blu-tac. The only clean-up I've done is some filing between their legs - slightly easier said than done, as I accidentally mauled the foot of one with my file. Two pictures under slightly different lighting so you get an idea of the depth of the detail:

The only modification I will make is to shorten the necks and file the stumps a touch to give the heads a better fit on them. I've put them on standard 30mm bases, but will probably use 25mm ones when I glue them. You will need to put them on bases as a couple of them won't balance on the metal bases they are sculpted on. Here's some with other miniatures (by Mantic Games (Deadzone range), Prodos Games (MCWZ:R range) and Reaper Miniatures (Bones).

A top-down so you get a good idea of their length.

They are around 55mm long with the Alpha around 60mm in length, so you may want 40mm bases.

They are available from the Loud Ninja Games webstore.

Those ar a bit nice.  They would fit well in a Rogue trader scenario as well.   Congratulations and welcome.  Please post painted pics when done.

They don't look bad but it is difficult to see the details in shiny metal... maybe once they are painted, we'll be able to see them better and be able to make a better judgemnt on them.

It is good to see some 'space lizards' though :)
