very VERY lovely. Any chance we can get break down of figure sources, I recognize most, but that one in the picture 7 thru 9 is one I would very much like to order.
-
Sure. The Wights, Skeletons and Lich are from Otherworld Miniatures. http://otherworldminiatures.co.uk/shop/product-category/undead/
Vampire is GW.
Ranger looking guy is Red Box Miniatures
Ghouls are Heresy Miniatures http://heresyminiatures.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_11_27&zenid=6dd3929ef5aa166230958ac7264ba9f2

Wow! Particularly like the Wights. That is some painting!
-
Both the Living & the Living Impaired are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Cracking warband! Very very nice!
-
Thanks for the break down, kicking myself for missing the lich.
Again, very lovely stuff.
-
Fantastic stuff, all really well done. I particularly like the skeletons, very atmospheric.
-
Wonderful work. Are you using custom warband rules for them?
-
Wow awesome brushcraft!
-
Very very nice! I'm a huge fan of the OW minis as well!
-
:-* :-* They all look amazing, the vampire is a bit to OTT for me but love the paintjob regardless, the Skeletons and the lich are the standout for me though, great miniatures and I love how you've done them the blood especially just adds that extra bit to put them over the top
-
Very atmospheric! Those undeads really look creepy, you did a great job on them. I also like your bases, very simple and they really make the minis stand out.
How do the Otherworld skeletons scale with the Red Box Games minis?
-
Love them all except for the Vampyre...far too...GW-ish of course, lol. I love what you've done with the Otherworld minis. Gorgeous stuff.
-
The vampire does seem cartoonish compared to the other figures. But beautifully painted. Your work is just wonderful Mate.
-
Very nice painted miniatures and photos.
-
Those are terrific looking undead.

Yeah he's for sure cartoonish. I use Warbands and other similar stuff to experiment and try to grow as a painter, and with him I was going for the GW style. The skeletons and lich are the most recent stuff from these pictures.
How do the Otherworld skeletons scale with the Red Box Games minis?
They're about right as far as height. They have the GW style exaggerated proportions so the heads/feet/etc are a bit bigger than the more realistic proportions on the Red Box stuff.

Lovely paints!
I've been thinking for a while about using Mordheim rules for my buckets of old Confrontation figures I'd love to play with. This is great inspiration!
-
Are you using custom warband rules for them?
First time we played, we used just some house-rules on top the base game. We're gearing up to play another campaign and we're using home-brew rules that use IKRPG as their base.
This warband is ostensibly a Blood Dragon Knights warband, but I will probably end up shoe-horning zombies into the warband rules too, since I have some sweet Red Box zombies I want to use. :)
-
Great painting and lovely photography as well.
What's next in the pipeline besides the zombies?

I got to paint a Thrall or Two, and finish up my fellhounds. Then I'm set unless I decide to get a Hired Sword.

Awesome collection and awesome painting!!
Love it!

Great paint.

Finished some zombies! These are full sized images, but the forum is shrinking them to fit. Either open em in new tab or go to Imgur link.

I speed painted these, and am super happy with how they turned out. Here's a step by step:
- Airbrush zenithally, starting with almost black brown, followed by pale brown, and finally pure white.
- Airbrush nice satin varnish.
- Wash zombie skin with Athonian Camoshade. 2nd coat Athonion Camoshade.
- Wash clothes different colors. Gryphonne Sepia, Agrax Earthshade, Carroburg Crimson, Reikland Fleshshade and Leviathan Purple were all used. Sometimes Sepia, Fleshshade and Earthshade were applied in pairs to tune the hue.
- Spot wash deepest shadows on zombie flesh with Leviathan purple
- Spot wash some Gryphonne Sepia in some zombie flesh mid-tones, just for color variation.
- Pick out ropes and teeth with bone color.
- Wash teeth with Fleshshade, rope with Sepia.
- Wash rocks with Earthshade, and randomly mottled on all the colors of the rainbow, just for color modulation.
- Super dark brown oil wash, with black in the center of the base, cause I wanted to darken it up. Oil cleaned up with makeup sponge.
- Tamiya x-27 Clear Red mixed with black and dabbed on for dry blood.
- Multiple coats of Future Floor Wax, followed by Future mixed with Liquitex Satin Varnish (Liquitex Satin is waaay too matte by itself).
- Fresh blood applied straight over and around the dried blood.
- Grass Tufts.
Not counting glueing rocks to the base and prepping the minis, I think perhaps ~4 hours of painting, start to finish. Really happy with this technique, and plan to continue developing it for future projects.
-
Nice addition, any chance of a shot of the full warband?
-
The latest group of Mostly Dead Guys look BEAUTIFUL in their own decayed fashion. GREAT WORK!
-
Wow, great job on those OW skellies! You did a much better job than me lol
And the speed painting technique on those zombies sure is effective.
The best thing about warbands is that you can mix and match figures from different manufacturers and still make them fit together. This is much harder to do with unit based games.
-
Please share your painting steps on those skeletons!!
-
Amazing paintwork, Jorenm, masterful done!
-
Great zombies! :-*
-
Stunning warband - you've worked hard gathering just the right models as well as painting them, and I think it really shows. Well done! :D
-
Wow fantastic looking warband, both in painting and the creatures really fit all eachother.
-
Please share your painting steps on those skeletons!!
I wish I could, but, they're all different! The bones are mostly Agrax Earthshade and Gryphonne sepia combined with well...bone colors.
-
The zombies look great - are they RedBox Games?

Yep. By far my favorite zombies I've found. Only problem is they're a bit on the small side, even compared to Red Box's other stuff.
-
What a great warband - love your Otherworld Skellies!! :)
-
Just finished these dudes. These were painted 95% with GW washes as with the zombies.
The cobblestone base was my first time using balsa foam. It's pretty awesome, and really easy/fun to sculpt with.

They look great! :-*

Amazing update, with some lovely miniatures, just the essence of Mordheim. Where are they come from?
-
All 3 are Red Box. He does amazing work.
-
Are we still using Mordhiem rules and can we still get them ? Or the newer versions like herohiem and corehiem!!
-
The brushwork & bases are OUTSTANDING! The Rogues look Mordheim ready. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Awesome stuff. Really like the mix of different companies minis.
-
Great choice of colors. Those are some nice looking miniatures. You have definitely done the sculpts justice.
-
Wow! This wash-only technique is great!
I've left my airbrush on the wrong side of the Atlantic, do you think that i could achieve the same results with two (or three?) spray cans?
-
Great painting technique!

I think it should work with rattle cans. The speckles will probably blend away as you apply color. I'd recommend doing a gloss coat on top the primer though, or it will likely have way too much tooth.
If you try it be sure to post pictures. I think the technique shows promise and would like to see other examples of it.

sure thing! Actually, buying 3 cans for an experiment is quite intensive, so i'm not sure i'll try this in the short period! Most likely i'll wait till back in my country! :(
Thanks again for the tips! ^^

Do you take commissions? Pm me if you do.
-
Mate, I just LOVE these! OUTSTANDING! I'm going to try this with my 20mm zeds!
-
Would love to see an update! This wash maddness is super interesting!
-
Excellent!
-
I still need to try this....
