Title: Tamiya 1:35 kits for 28mm scenery

Hi chums,

I recently bought some Tamiya 1:35 kits, namely the brick wall and jerry can sets to use as scenery and/or objective markers for my 28mm VBCW collection - I reckon they've done the trick quite nicely!

THX for the comparison pix!
the walls are OK, but they have accessoires sets and jerry can/oil drum sets in 1/48 too

I have a few of the 1/35 drums, but I use them only as fuel tanks, I find them too large. I have a lot of the 1/35 jerry cans, but these are acceptable for SF. I can't use them with historical 28mm, because they don't match any of the cans that come with scaled vehicles

Just picked up the 1:48 version of the same set, myself. As well as some additional cheap 1:48 oil drums from a korean seller on fleabay. Useful stuff!

Back in 28mm land, Dixon Miniatures do 20 28mm Jerry cans (http://www.dixon-minis.com/shop/28mm-wwII/WWP1/) for £3.75. I have a set and they're very good

Yes, plastic kits are astonishingly pricey, given that they are made in order to minimize production costs in relation to the output....
I can also recommend the kits from Mini Art and Master Box, that do work occasionally despite being 1/35, for instance the horse carts

The 1/48 sets are actually pretty good value for money.

I've been eyeing off the new MiniArt 1/72 buildings on their website. Alas no bugger seems to stock them here.

One thing about the 1:48 set that Tamiya doesn't make clear is that you get two full sprues, not one, so you get double what's depicted on the box. Now, you probably don't need that many jerry cans unless you're trying to fill the back of a cargo halftrack or something, but two sprues does give you 12 oil barrels, which is plenty for most folks. If I'd have known that before buying the set, I probably wouldn't have ordered additional standalone oil drums.

Yes, but the jerry cans are three types, which means You might need more if you play Axis  ;)

I would have needed two sets for all the jerrycans needed for two AS-42
luckily I got the 1/43 models
