Last week I finished off some brigade commanders for my 1812 French in time for my second game of Black Powder - all by Elite Minis:

I may go back and add some tufts, but next up is their boss…

Lovely stuff. ;D
I have a soft spot for the old style miniatures. They remind me of my first Hinchcliffe Napoleonic figures back in the late 1970s. :)
-
Very nice and full of character.

Ditto - I just wish I'd hung onto mine. They mix very well with the Perrys too (well not in the same unit, but on table anyway) :)
Please feel free to point out any uniform errors, I'm well out of arc when it comes to this period ;)

Marshal Ney, Col Heymes and Levavasseur based on the Waterloo Panorama:
(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd141/jannerxi/Napoleonics/waterloo_ney_zps2f7c6bef.jpg) (http://s221.photobucket.com/user/jannerxi/media/Napoleonics/waterloo_ney_zps2f7c6bef.jpg.html)
I'm sure there's the odd mistake in there and I have replaced Heymes' leopard pelt flounce with a black sheepskin one.

Given the lack of movement over the past few months, this project has become my focus for 2015!
So here's the bulk of my 2015 project (two Horse Artillery Batteries are missing from the photo):
Two regiments of French Cuirassiers (four medium units for BP) with two brigade commanders and supporting Light Horse Lancer squadron (one small unit for BP., and two squadrons of Light Horse Lancers (one medium unit for BP):
(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd141/jannerxi/Napoleonics/IMG_2224_zps00d8279f.jpg) (http://s221.photobucket.com/user/jannerxi/media/Napoleonics/IMG_2224_zps00d8279f.jpg.html)
The aim will be to paint a six figure squadron per month, interspaced with the command stands and guns.
-
Two regiments (and a horse artillery battery) down and one to go, as well as the rest of the artillery and the lancer squadron :D

-
Grand :D
Any particular reason for the rounded corners on the bases?
cheers
James
-
I think that makes them easier to rank up and the bases less intrusive :)
-
Wow, looks great!
-
This is my effort to represent in 28mm Antoine-Louis Decrest de Saint-Germaine as commander of 1re division de cuirassiers de la Grande Armée, a position he had gained in 1811.
(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd141/jannerxi/Napoleonics/bfcb6b3e-3564-4d18-8ae5-6439eaf42aa0_zpsy8yudxnj.jpg) (http://s221.photobucket.com/user/jannerxi/media/Napoleonics/bfcb6b3e-3564-4d18-8ae5-6439eaf42aa0_zpsy8yudxnj.jpg.html)
To his flanks are an Imperial Orderly and a senior officer of the Horse Artillery. Saint-Germaine was wounded leading a charge at the battle of Borodino in 1812, but recovered to participate in the battle of Hanau in 1813 as a count of the Empire and commander of 2e corps de cavalerie de la Grande Armée.
Lots more photos on my blog, as well as a more comprehensive biography, as usual: http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/07/antoine-louis-decrest-de-saint-germain.html (http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/07/antoine-louis-decrest-de-saint-germain.html)
Photos of the division to date to follow...
-
Great paint-work, and the vignette comes together nicely. Lovely work indeed.
-
Very nice, especially the diorama bases.
:-* :-*
I agree that the rounded corners make them less intrusive.
It certainly works for me.
8)
After Mars, Sherwood, Dorset and Texas ;)
You are gonna need a lot of paint!
;D

The next offering in my 2015 Heavy Cavalry Division project consists of two limber teams. Perry Minis as usual, but the set does lack the third horse pair usual to teams attached to horse artillery batteries.
(http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd141/jannerxi/Napoleonics/3f87c6d4-9862-47a9-9d84-647f9e1006ad_zpsvpql73l2.jpg) (http://s221.photobucket.com/user/jannerxi/media/Napoleonics/3f87c6d4-9862-47a9-9d84-647f9e1006ad_zpsvpql73l2.jpg.html)
Lots more photos here as usual. link (http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/08/limber-up.html)

Next batch of limbers:

I particularly enjoyed doing the skewbald draught horses for the howitzer limber :D
More photos here as usual, http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/09/more-limber-action.html
-
Very nice, as always. One barely notices that the horses/riders are the same sculpts in both limbers - you've done an effective job of making them look quite different.
-
Thank you. Some judicious bending of the whips helps ;)
-
Lovely work, and I especially like the green you have used for the artillery and limber.
-
Thanks chaps, and onto the third unit:

Lovely painting. The painting looks clean on the lively miniatures - I like them.
-
Very nice and crisp work. It really shows off the colours beautifully.
-
Many thanks, chaps. I should have cracked this regiment by the end of the month :D
-
Onto the last cuirassier unit:

Nice Comandobase
-
Love the Cuirassiers! :-*
But then again, who doesn't? They are so emblematic of the Napoleonic wars.
Been following this marvelous thread for quite some time now and it is fantastic. Well done.
I especially like Marshal Ney's command group. Very, very nice.
They are going to look great on the table top!
-
Many thanks for the kind words.
Here's the full regiment and their commander:

1er régiment de chevau-legers lanciers were formed by Imperial decree on 18 June 1811 from 1er régiment de dragons, then stationed in Iberia. It joined five other dragoon regiments that converted to lancers, along with two existing lancer regiments from the Vistula Legion and 30e régiment de chasseurs á cheval (formerly the Hamburg Dragoons).
More on their history and further photos can be found here: http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/12/1er-regiment-de-chevau-legers-lanciers.html (http://jannersjaunt.blogspot.dk/2015/12/1er-regiment-de-chevau-legers-lanciers.html)

Great work - very inspiring to see.
