Title: First Steps into supers
Post by: YPU on April 18, 2014, 03:39:56 PM
SuperSystem 4th has finally gotten me to take the plunge into supers wargaming. I've started constructing my Fat Dragon games City. Cant even remember why I bought that years ago, but it comes in handy now. Still looking for a good source of foamboard or alternative to base the groundplates on, but the buildings look pretty good for the time I spend on them.

Just a random setup on a far to small table.  lol

A quick line-up of the first batch of minis. Mostly re/purposed from other sources while I order more classic spandex types.
Pride, Gargoyle, Unlucky henk the living comet, Nightmare and Bodkin.

Gargoyle is a straight up DnD minie, might repaint him but he looks pretty good as is, Nightmare is a dreamblade mini with only minor touchups for now.

Pride is also a dreamblade who I repainted completely, spend ages on his face which you hardly see as he is hunched over so badly.  lol

Henk is a DnD mini that I specifically bought to convert into a miniatures for a Supers RPG I GM´ed years ago. He´s a biker who had the bad luck to get hit by a comet strike while riding the highway. Hands face and jacket are own sculpts over the base mini.

Bodkin is your typical trick arrow archer. One of my favoured archetypes. He is all GW bits.  :-X

Finally a pair of action shots!

Henk tries to smash the Gargoyle!

Bodkin takes a shot at nightmare! Bodkin´s gear on his back is overshadowed here. I decided to extend his utility-belt to his quiver as well.

I might post some SS4th stats here later, just for fun and so people might catch any mistakes.  :D

Cheers,
Tim

Looks like you've got a fantastic start.  I've started writing a series on how I put my city together, I haven't gotten past the street level yet, but perhaps it will help some.

Actually it was your post that inspired me to start my own here.  lol I thought it might be useful to some people to see both the fat dragon and worldcraft stuff.

The set you are using does have a lot more options than the FD one. Tough it costs about as much for only the streets as it does for the entire FD base set. Still I'm considering getting my hands on it since your blog. Please do continue that series!

On a side note, I used all 3 modern sets from FD on the layout I showed. The base set has the buildings which are a larger square, the expansion has the smaller square buildings which are more modular in height. Lastly the McDooms is a loose set.

Great work!  I can see some slugfests going down on those mean streets!
