Hi all!
Witnessing the flurry of excellent brushwork on diplay in this thread recently, I have been re-inspired to return to my paintning table and crank out some offerings to the lead god. :D ;D :D
In order to progress with one prized project, I was really hoping to call upon the imagination and brushwork-badass-ary of the LA community here for some advice and thoughts.
One project I have been studiously avoiding is painting my platoon of Eisenkern Stormtroopers from DF/WF. They are such amazing figures, and Dwartist and others here have done such rollicking great jobs with theirs, I suppose I feel just a mite intimidated by the liklelyhood that I won't really unlock their full potential without spending a prohibitive amount of time on them. I also don't believe in tying any figures I paint to any specific ruleset or fluff-verse too closely. So my 40K figures might show up in a Star Wars or Travller campaign and vica versa. For instance, my current proxies of choice for Sisters of Battle in my FUBAR games are Stargrunt 25mm NSU power armor troops. The point is, I like color schemes to be as flexible as possible so that I can proxy the hell out of those figures!
Which brings me back to the Eisenkern. I really want to use them as Dark Troopers/Power-armored Stormtroopers in a Star Wars campaign, but I don't want a paint scheme on them that is obviously just Star Wars-stormtrooper/clone trooper(i.e. white armor, black joints, bits of color splashed here and there) but would still allow them to be believable as Star Wars Imperials. A quick GIS led me to these pics:

I'm favoring the first image but am not sure how I would capture that look on a miniature (any ideas there?).
And these are some of the Eisenkern paint-schemes I have found online that I am most drawn to. Dwartist, I know yours is the 3rd. Sorry if I am not crediting anyone else whose work is represented here:

So these are the options I am pondering:
1) Light grey armor, black joints
2) Light gunmetal, black joints
3) Dark gunmetal, black joints
4) Patchwork of all three (see color scheme 2 above)
Any different thoughts/suggestions/ideas? Many thanks for your time and attention, everyone!
EDIT: The second pic from the bottom is really growing on me, and I worked out that they were painted by Shadowking1957 here on LAF!

I think a nice dark grey/blue would actually work really well...with a black undersuit.

^Like this, perhaps darker? I think it'd look really sharp. I think normal black/grey is really played out on those figures.

I like that color - would probably have to mix it myself. Thanks!

Sod the dark troopers a 43 zwitter from the wolfsburg museum! Awesome! Lol ;)

Bah, I just did a GIS for Zwitter 43 at the Wolfsburg Museum expecting some kind of awesome WW2 experiment armored relic! Was just punked by Commander Vyper. That's the miniature/wargaming equivalent of being photobombed by Bill Murray! :-)

field blue would be good.

What about "medium grey armor, black joints"?
As these:

@Commander Vyper - that was meant entirely tongue -in-cheek - my knowledge of cars is non-existent, so naturally I was not sure what I was looking for. Only meant in good nature, hope I didn't cause offense :D :D :D
@Ajasalium - Those guys look ace! Not sure. I could replicate but may bee worth a try...
