Title: Wild West Micro Board for Stowrail 2014
Post by: Ramirez Noname on 30 April 2014, 05:16:00 PM
Getting ready for the local model train show ....

And a mock up of how it will look on the day ...

A few more things to paint, such as the boardwalks and roofs and add in some fences and general clutter. All the buildings will be fixed to the board to make it easier to transport.

The model railway show details can be found here - http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=66333.msg802166#msg802166 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=66333.msg802166#msg802166)

That's looking like an interesting little project. Are you intending to run a small game on it and convert a few railway modellers to wargaming?

I always prefer when the urban layout of a board doesn't line up with the edges of the board. Much more interesting looking.

Thanks guys,

Yeap, a Dead Mans Hand mini game. I think converting railway modellers to war gaming might be a bit of a lost cause though (says he who also does a bit of model railways, too)  :)

The show organiser asked me to "do" a. Modelling demo, but he's ok with this interactive approach.

What size is it and for 28 mm, right?  8)

Hi SI,

The overall board size is 450 x 450mm/18"x18" and all the models are 28mm.

The loco and combine are Bachmann Spectrum "0" gauge; the loco is quite small for O gauge, but ideal for 28mm.

Sounds great ..... A very nice layout and for the size it looks surprisingly playable.  Most cool.

I've always liked the concept of a game in a box/case and this is very close   :-*

But good if you could, I'm sure they'd make some pretty decent terrain.  Just like you, a self confessed part time railway modeller, have done with this board!  lol

Thanks Mason,

I can't possible comment on its potential use to replay some quality TV Western Series (such as "Alias Smith and Jones")  ;)
