Got word on the grape vine that the company 'Arcane Scenery and models' distributors of the 'Northstar' line were having a 'free postage till the end of April' sale, and postage being a major consideration down here in the colonies when buying from Europe and the states,....well,...it would be rude of me to refuse such a considerate offer. Along with not being a smoker and only a social drinker, well..who let the dogs out?
The figures are all their Cannibal range, along side the Ostriches and Baboons, Wild African cattle and the odd Hippo. Looks like one of the Ostriches is sculptured with it's head in the sand!!
Delivery time was 4-5 days so via air.....and free.
If your in the market for African animals Northstar is definitely worth a look into. ;)

That's a very nice selection of figures, there Prof! :-* I'm envious. ;D

A conversation between Prof. Dinglebat. Phd and Mad Lord Snapcase.....
And I try and justify gaming as a sensible hobby to outsiders... ::)

Well spotted Mason!!
“Some are born mad, some achieve madness, and some have madness thrust upon them.”
Only ONE feller I know embraces all three routes to that specific goal...
Daft Devonians... spare me!! Or is that redundant

Just to show you how far back me and Snappy go, here's a 'Old School' pic of us showing Hammers some of our latest minis. ;)

Ah, the good old days at Oxford. The Prof. was reading Archaeology and I was reading the Marquis de Sade! I'm glad I shaved that moustache off for graduation though!
Here's another one to remind you of the old days when we were young subalterns together in the old 88th, the 'Devil's Own'. The old colonel did have a bit of a penchant for his young officers dressing up on mess nights. You don't think there was anything dodgy going on do you, old boy?
That's the Prof. sitting down.................
-
Arrrr, The Devil's Own,(Yes we were)...Sqidgey's platoon (Shown below)...great days, what memories.

'Twas an awful shame what happend to those chaps.....that incident testing the Rejuvination Ray was so sad to see....

I also feel that I should mention that Milord Snappy always had trouble with the concept of camouflage. As his former instructor, try as I might he could never get it right.....

Always good with the needle and thread though. An always first to lend a hand to fix a hem on mess nights. Good Ol Snappy alias Mister Fixit.
-
Yes he was, though his idea for a new uniform didn't go down to well....

How nice of you guys to trawl through the old family photos, I'm overcome with a wave of nostalgia. :'(
And old Squidgy, whatever became of him? I remember rumours of him running away to join the circus just as we were due to return to Blighty from Jalalabad. I recall that the Prof. was quite tight with Squidgy at one time, here's that photo of you riding on his shoulders after the fifth bottle of port in the Officer's Mess at Doolally!

I still believe that this is the ideal clothing for operating in hot climates. I suppose you chaps still prefer your stiff collars and jodhpurs?
-
Alright, cut! This skit...er... thread is getting silly!
;)

Yes, dear ol Sqidgey (and that damn bicycle). Dug down deep in the trunk and found these gems.
Remember the incident in the mess with the hippo? If I remember correctly the news of the fiasco actually made it back to the Battalion. Such a fondness for the creature developed,..t'was the reason for it becoming the company mascot in the end.
The second is of us all somewhere on operations listening to Kitchener on the gramophone just before going over the top for the third time in one day. A record for us also I believe.
-
I only went over the top the third time that day because it was said a bottle of whiskey and a copy of Pulp Alley was seen in the enemy dugout......
Turned out to be an empty bottle of stain remover and a copy of Razzle...I was not happy!!! Bloody Snappy telling fibs again :'(

Yes, we all called him Lord Of The Lies, but someone heard it wrong and thought we said Flies, hence the movie that came out was all wrong. Oh, we all at one stage, did get stranded on an island, but is was more like Gilligan's then the movie they made portrayed. ::)
Thanks for the lol lol guys. Nothing like wondering what pics are going to appear then thinking, damn I wished they made a mini of that. lol
-
Here's that photo of the plane we made to escape that island we were stranded on, as I remeber it didn't fly too well................................
That's the Prof. inside and Peter is making the last finishing touches!
-
After that one crashed and burned it was Pete who said "Let's think big!"
After 37 years on that bloody island we built this.....
We flew round the world three times then returned to the Regiment after all that time only to find we had been posted as deserters!
-
only to find we had been posted as deserters!
Yes it was terrrble.....have you ever had to make 800 banana splits :o
Pete
-
Apparently our mug shots were all over town, and they'd been listening out for us for weeks.

Prof. I bow to the master! But I'm going to try and make a comeback. How the hell do you find these magnificent pictures? :o
BTW I don't like Pete's straw hat much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I was in disguise.....in reality I was trying for the Mary Poppins look, but you know what Stores is like, they never have the right kit.
Pete
-
Mind you, that disguise you used when you went behind the Pathan lines in '24 was a beauty. It fooled us, but unfortunately not the Pathans!
