Hi All! Looking for opinions on this colour scheme for German Afrika Korps. I don't have access to tons of colors. Mix my own mostly. Will these fly? I'm no purist so close-ish is good enough for me. My worry is they look too American...
Thanks in advance!

I would probably mix it up with a number of figures in khaki jackets and trousers, and maybe some with really bleached jackets (just add more white).
-
That sounds like a good idea! I guess the uniforms weren't so uniform!
-
I'd go with a more sandy/bleached bone colour for the jackets as it's just the green that doesn't sit right otherwise looking good.
-
Not very good desert camo, is it?!
-
Somehow they look familiar to me :o
Very nice work by the way. The greenish uniform parts almost look like the early field grey. I'd go for a bit darker tone though.
-
The uniform was light olive green when issued but within a short time the sun, sand and wind bleached it to a pale sandy colour. All combattants wore a mix of clothing - Italian Sahariana tunics being very popular;

Sun bleach factor. I'll tone them all down. Great pics!

Those were the unpainteds. I couldn't bear to paint over your finished beauties!
-
This is what I ended up with... Unfinished of course. Thanks for all the input! Big difference! I will add the occasional bit of darker color randomly.

:-* I like the random colours of the uniform Gary - that each item has been there a different amount of time. I'm guessing as zombies, their clothes would be on the more sunbleached side of the spectrum.

These are going to my regulars fighting the weirds. I was going to do a few zombies this way but most zombies will be classic gray and black baddies suitable for other scenarios.
-
They look awesome! Good to see they found a good new home :)
-
Thanks Moiterei!

OK...90% finished. Just some face touch up...Some basing. I tore all their heads off and changed the to regular helmets and faces. The full gas mask thing was a bit too "Warzone" for me (Not that I mind Warzone). I like the character faces add.

They all look brilliant. I would agree, those guys look much better without the masks
-
Looking good, just like the pictures.
It will make identifying zombie from friend easier too ;)
Cheers

And something for them to fight! A couple of vampires and their horde of zombies for 7TV's Vlad's Army! A little more paint to do on these guys though...

I really like these painted miniatures. Your job is really intriguing. Maybe I will consider it if I will create my afrika korps for a pulp adventure ;)
-
I'm using the ZombieTV supplement Vlad's Army...

You could easily use Pulp Alley for this kind of thing. I suspect We'll try P.A. with them at least once:)

They look awesome Gary! very nicely done!

Very evocative painting. :-*

TOP NOGGIN :)

Dude! Those look fantastic!
-
These look great ....I especially like the vampires and half breeds as they have the feel of the Castle Wolfenstein game...who makes the figures ?
-
Thanks! The 2 on the left are Bob Murch. The Bat Thing is a Heroclix conversion. The rest are West Wind!
